Very good analogy on anyone who really thought they could retire on their 401K. Oh by the way, we are giving you an IOU for your Social Security and raising your taxes. Oh by the way, drink more Ovaltine! In other words the assholes make everyone scramble their whole lives expecting a big payoff and when it's too late they find they have been fucked by the system. No! I sure as hell wouldn't want a pension being 45 years old. I damn well know it won't be there at age 65. The federal employees and military will get screwed. They aren't even counting those pensions on the balance sheet. The US debt is at $14.5 trillion but if you add in the pensions and other undocumented liabilities it rounds out to about $78 trillion. The estimated gross national product of planet earth is about $60 trillion. So the US Government has managed to run up more debt than what the whole planet is worth. I am not kidding and this is no joke, look it up. So if you have a federal government pension or social security, the money ain't there folks. No! You can't have the keys to the wine cellar!Comment

That is the key right there, even though there is only so much that is expected in the way of responsibility by radio stations. In exchange for free use of the airwaves, stations are only asked to use a fraction of their broadcast time devoted to public issues. The hapless F.C.C. makes noise every so often enforcing archaic rulings, but by and large the station owners can do what they please. As a result, chastising them for content is about as effective as blaming the phone company for crank calls.

Crank calls is not a good example.
ISPs are held responsible for spammers when proven they harbor them.
But what I was talking about are the "commercials" that have plain out lies.
There should be a reward for persons that find, prove, and submit deceptive advertisements.

I said it was about as effective to go after station owners for broadcasting errant content as it is to go after the phone company for transmitting crank calls. It is not an example, it is an analogy.
