Reporting from Benghazi, Libya
"Libyan leader Moammar Kadafi survived a NATO airstrike in the capital that killed one of his sons and three of his grandchildren, a government spokesman said on state television Saturday.
Killed was Saif al Arab Kadafi, 29, said government spokesman Moussa Ibrahim. He said the Libyan leader and his wife were in the house at the time, but that both survived the North Atlantic Treaty Organization strike.
"Western nation crusader aggression against the Libyan nation continued and proved again that it has no moral foundation," Ibrahim said in Tripoli.
State television showed scenes of heavy damage to a structure, but it did not identify the site as Kadafi's sprawling compound in the capital.
People were seen walking through the rubble and, at one point, handling what appeared to be a missile, covered in dust and debris.
The dead son was among the least known of Kadafi's children. He was described on state television as a student, and was reported to have spent considerable time in Germany.
The attack seems sure to raise more questions about NATO strikes on Tripoli.
A United Nations resolution has approved NATO airstrikes as a means to save civilian lives in Libya, where rebels have revolted against Kadafi's four decades of rule. But the Libyan government has condemned the strikes on Kadafi's compound as an assassination attempt."
Doesn't seem like an "attempt" to me. If anything, this is a bizarre success. NATO can't find ol' Moammar himself so they went after his family. I'm not sure what to feel about this. Seems we [NATO] are drawing up the lines and rules only to cross and break them at will. This shit is really starting to get scary
