The income tax is a joke. We spend way more money than we collect taxes to cover and it's estimated businesses, individuals, and the government combined spend $1 trillion a year processing the taxes. So half the money collected is basically wasted on administration. What politicians love about the income tax is you can play political games with it and control the population with it. You can use the IRS to intimidate people. You can't do that shit with a value added tax. We should just scrap the whole damn income tax and just have a value added tax at a flat rate everyone pays. It would generate so much more money and get the government snooping out of our lives. Everyone pays the tax and corporations will pay when they buy their supplies.
I mean a 10% tax for great for church's. They thrive on a 10% tax called tithing. I don't see why it wouldn't work for the government.

They do avoid tax. Avoidance is not illegal (evasion is).
Instead of paying tax on their 'real' income they employ a raft of very clever accountants to exploit loopholes in the system. Essentailly you can have a company turning over billions of dollars paying almost zero tax. If that doesn't disgust you, I don't know what would.

They have it pretty well rigged. They have the little people arguing over the whole Democrat vs. Republican thing while they have both sides bought and paid for. They get us arguing with each other or focused on what party is better while both parties are bought and paid for. Elections are more of a red herring than anything. The corporations and banks win no matter who wins. Bush was horrible, Obama is horrible and now people are thinking Romney might fix things. Yeah right. Meanwhile they keep selling higher taxes as solutions to problems and flip us the middle finger. I doubt things will change until the sides of the streets are lined with crucified bankers with birds eating out their eyes. The problem is the assholes don't fear the public. Until they do nothing changes.
But when you have a society that a large part of it will sell their soul for a few handouts, you have the assholes controlled and there is nothing to fear. If it blows over you just steer the public to take it out on each other using race and class baiting that is going on at the moment. Most the theft is done at the level of the central banks. They print as much money as they need. What's collected in taxes is a small fraction of what they are borrowing on top and under the table. This money costs nothing to make but yet they charge interest to the taxpayer on the issue of it. This is why an audit of the central bank is needed. You keep the little people in line with some free handouts and then you keep the middle class and unconnected rich in line with increased taxes (Obamacare ect...) and regulations. Eventually you break everybody with inflation but by the time that happens the central bank will own most the real assets and hopefully have enough guns to make the point stick.No!
