Well, the Republican candidates prefer blathering bumper sticker soundbites on topics like religion and personal morality, mostly because they've got nothing else to talk about.

None of them have any plans to put Americans back to work. Hell, they won't even let their self-imposed, dogmatic, ideological mentalities allow themselves to so much as formulate a theory about what government can do to to juice the economy for anyone outside of the top earners. It's just the same old "government shouldn't regulate business, people at the top should pay less in taxes, these two things will create jobs" song and dance boondoggle that has no basis in reality.

Their plan is to blame Obama for where we're at, which is actually the result of decades' worth of trickle down-based legislation, and their remedy is to cut the part of the budget that funds services (or "entitlements") for the vast bulk of americans who don't make $1 million + a year. The sad part isn't how blatant or transparent this strategy is, but how so many poor red state folks will continually vote for such candidates who clearly don't represent their best economic interests. As long as someone drapes themselves in the American flag, talks about Jesus, plays on racial fears and leads them in a chant of "USA! USA!" these rubes keep falling for it, again and again.

The thing is you can have a person who is loyal to their spouse and they are a horrible president. I think JFK was a good president but he had many personal and family problems that probably stemmed from his father's example. The thing is, JFK honored the constitution he swore to uphold and didn't loath the American people. Having seen the high cost of war up close serving as a PT boat captain he was in no hurry to get into one. He saved us from World War III. He probably would have avoided the Vietnam War fiasco. He would have probably bankrupted the Federal Reserve by competing openly with it with US Treasury notes. He probably would have put the CIA back into it's proper place of intelligence gathering as Truman set it up to be.

In other words, had Kennedy lived he might have avoided a lot of the shit we are suffering from now. Everyone knows he cheated on Jackie. Not a good situation but he was still a good president.
No! You can't have the keys to the wine cellar!
