I think it's about as sophisticated as this:

Insurance companies: Hey Mr. Obama. We will pay you a lot of money if you can pass our healthcare legislation. You and your wife Michelle will have that wonderful lifestyle you have so desired.

Obama: Ok. It all sounds good to me as long as I can give my political allies exemptions from it.

If you get into the nitty gritty of Obamacare the government chooses which insurance companies you will have and the catastrophic care has extremely high deductibles. Then you have the mandate. Then they robbed Medicare to pay for some of it. It's nothing more than racketeering. It's actually the opposite of what people thought they were getting. Of course that's why they don't go to it immediately. They do it slowly hoping they can get away with it.
