Jesus Christ this guy is mentally ill.

Rick Santorum is a likable, down-home, real American guy who is terrified of and really mad about sex.

It actually very much angers me that a guy like this has a shot at being the leader of the free world. Dude's mentally fucked up.

I'll do everything in my power to make sure he never gets elected.

It's just amazing that in 2012 an idiot that A) doesn't believe in, much less see the necessity of church-state separation B) thinks it's totally OK to impose his religious beliefs on the rest of the country ("I'm worried about Sharia Law because it might get in the way of me imposing Biblical Law") C) thinks people are going to tolerate the banning of contraception and the puritanical view that sex should only be for the purpose of procreation - (and one assumes due to his repressed nature, in missionary position ONLY!) and D) is so obessed with gay sex that one has a hard time believing he's NOT a closet-case is getting ANY traction in being considered a legitimate candidate. Any ONE of those flaws is a huge DQ and he's got them ALL... more amazing is that evangelicals are flocking (pun intended) to him - when generally they're the ones saying Catholics "aren't Christian", but in their flawed view he's STILL better than a Mormon. It's sad.

It does, however - tend to suggest Obama WILL be re-elected...possibly in a landslide at this rate. I can't see ANY self-respecting woman voting Rethuglican at ALL at this point with what they're doing regarding women's reproductive rights - and if Frothy ends up being their poster-boy?? Please.

I really don't think there is much difference between Mitt or Obama. They both work for Goldman Sachs. I think the trick is the banks get all they want out of one candidate but then that's unpopular with the people so they vote for the other party. The trick is to to have the other side bought off. So it doesn't matter who wins.

              I can tell you this,

My dad's side of the family was raised catholic, and went to catholic church and school, and I've never ever heard anything close to what came out of his mouth, or by my folks.

I was raised protestant (friends church rejecting calvinism ftw!), and again, it sounds like nothing even close to what I was taught in school.

I can say that his brand of catholicism sounds more closely related to a calvinist ideaogly. which in lay mens turns is full of bigoted assholes that believe everyone is going to hell. They teach "the fear of god", and not the "love of god".

His brand is a perversion of religion in general. Tolerance isn't in his vocabulary. More disturbing is his quasi-evangelical zealot certitude that HE knows better than everyone else (while in the same breath he wrongly accuses the POTUS of the same arrogance).

I too was raised Catholic and went to parochial school, and never heard anything as batsh*t as what he spews. Hell, even when the nuns taught the bit about sex being for procreation only they acknowledged (off the record, but still) it was COMPLETELY unrealistic... there were a few that were as overzealous as him, and we KNEW they were crazy (and were accordingly dismissive of them) in the 80s, FFS...

Michael Savage: Santorum is right about Satan
'Someone who actually believes what he's talking about' can win White House
                  Published: 18 hours ago

iComments unearthed from a 2008 speech about Satan’s influence on America made Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum the target of derision and mockery today, but talk-radio host Michael Savage contends the former Pennsylvania senator is right, and his beliefs should only help his chances for the White House this fall.

“I think Santorum is right, and I think that anyone who attacks him is not seeing this for what it is,” Savage told his radio audience.

Savage said he agrees that America is primarily a Christian nation, and its churches and synagogues are “filled with parishioners who are screaming for preachers and pastors and rabbis to speak the truth, and they’re not getting it.”

Addressing students at Ave Maria University in Florida in 2008, Santorum declared: “Satan has his sights on the United States of America.”

Santorum said the devil is “attacking the great institutions of America, using those great vices of pride, vanity and sensuality as the root to attack all of the strong plants that has so deeply rooted in the American tradition.”

Yes, Satan is very real. Now find out everything you always wanted to know about the devil but were too afraid to ask in the No. 1 best-seller that stands up for the absolute truth of Scripture, “Shocked by the Bible: The Most Astonishing Facts You’ve Never Been Told,” personally autographed by the author for just $4.95 today!

Savage said Santorum’s speech “speaks to the core issue in America right now, which is the culture rot, the soul rot.”

The former senator said America is in a “spiritual war.”

“And the Father of Lies,” Santorum said, referring to Satan, “has his sights on what you would think the Father of Lies would have his sights on: a good, decent, powerful, influential country – the United States of America. If you were Satan, who would you attack in this day and age?”

Savage said people in many churches and synagogues are getting only “mumbo jumbo.”

“They don’t get the true stuff that they’re going to the churches for,” Savage said.

Savage noted the comments have caused concern among Republicans who believe they could cause serious damage in the general election if Santorum were to become the nominee.

But the talk host thinks they could ultimately benefit Santorum, because he is expressing what most Americans believe.

“I don’t care that the liberals are having a heyday with it,” he said. “I think it’s going to work against them.”

Savage reminded his listeners that Democrats rejoiced when Ronald Reagan, a cultural conservative, became the GOP’s nominee to run against Jimmy Carter in 1980.

“When Jimmy Carter ran America off the ground – the worst president in American history until now – along came Ronald Reagan, and the left was high-fiving each other all over the DNC.”

Democrats said, recalled Savage, “Thank God, the stupid Republicans have picked a right-winger to run against Carter.”

“And they started to mock Reagan.”

                  The rest is history.
“So, you never know what can happen when you get someone who actually believes what he’s talking about, as Rick Santorum does,” Savage said.

“The Savage Nation” airs live Monday through Friday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern. It can be heard online through stations such as KSTE in Sacramento.

Another lie I'm tired of hearing...

"Spiritual War" my ass... no such f***ing thing. Completely imagined and/or fabricated by the right.

Is that how that works? You try to force your religious ideology on everyone, and when they (not surprisingly) balk, you then claim your rights are being infringed, and that those not willing to conform have somehow declared "war" on you??? FAIL.

I find it a little frightening to see the number of votes Santorum is getting.

It's fucking bizarre, he is like something from the 1950s. I wish he would just go suck a dick and get it out his system...

Having gone to church, again in a Friends/Quaker brand of the church, I also don't recall devoting entire sermons to political matters, but rather just about ones spiritual well-being, and the scriptures themselves. This is how Churches should be run. With the exception of what MLK did (which was very cool indeed, and very something Christ would have approved), religion and politics have very little to co-mingle in.

It always been my belief, that as a Christian, it's not my place to tell someone how to live their own life, but I'd be more than willing to help those in a time of need or if they need some form of spiritual guidance to help them, or at the very least pray for them.

It is not my place to tell someone whether or not they should have an abortion, or whether a person should marry someone of the same sex. It's their life, it's their right.

also, um..Rick, guess who jesus hung out with back in the day? He wasn't chilling with the zealots and moral majority idiots like you, rather he was with prostitutes, the poor and greedy folks. Per the bible, my God is a very forgiving one that has next to nothing in common with yours.
