Not to get back on topic here, but aren't bone-marrow transplants extremely painful for all involved and a pretty tedious way to get rid of the HIV?

Doesn't the process nearly kill you still? IIRC it used to involve irradiating the person's existing marrow, basically killing it, and then once implanted, your system starts to use the donor marrow to rebuild? Seems like it'd be way risky for a healthy person, much less someone who's system is already impaired by HIV.Originally posted by conmee

It's nothing new. It's been done forever. Look at the movie Titanic. The people with less money get locked in steerage and the rich get the lifeboats.
In the Soviet Union that was supposed to make things fair and everyone equal there was an elite class who were more equal than others.
There is the problem and it sucks but often the solution fixes nothing and makes things even worse. The only time it works is when you have decent people in leadership positions.
