Right but a lot of them seem to think they can answer unanswerable questions every Sunday and on TV by just making shit up.
There are also people on the corners yelling, the end is near,.. asking for all the same attention, but forgetting to call themselves an church and passing the plate around.
Different levels of snake oil salesmen...you have got to be smarter than that to make the comparissons toward a goddamned asshole mother fucker stealing money from little old ladies on sunday morning TV, and the truth...?
....and remember studying spirituallity is not a bad thing, The Bible, sais,.. when ever two or more are gathered in my name, I Am There.
Or as I always have said, and you all may quote me, when ever two or more strippers and gathered in my name, one will allways be named, Tina.
Go in peace my son.

Another one of those classic genius posts, sure to generate responses. You log on the next day to see what your witty gem has produced to find no one gets it and 2 knotheads want to stick their dicks in it... Well played, sir!!
Giving of your time is is the hardest thing to do in this busy world...
Spending time in church and in fellowship with friends and neighbors...
Volunteering to help the less fortunate...
Helping friends and family in need...
Going out of your way to help others...
This is all sacrifice of valuable time and it's easy to be selfish and not do any of it...
But there are great rewards in stepping out of your comfort zone and using some of your gifts and talents for the benefit of others...
Discussing time as part of the fabric of space within the universe is probably a wasted effort in this discussion here... So I'll focus on the smaller elements.
Most of what you describe is simply boiled down to Compassion. Let's be frank... 4 walls, benches/pews, a cross on top and shiny gold collection plate have nothing to do with human compassion and helping others. It's a tiny part of a social culture only. If being a part of that social culture works for you and fills some need you have... WTF... have at it.
An act of compassion doesn't require a god or a leap of faith to motivate a person in general... but frankly a good portion of society requires some sort of organized culture to get them off their asses and do something good. Why because a lot of folks lack the bravery, focus of mind and strength to just help others beyond their own selfish motivation.
That's a statement of the weakness in mind and purpose of a good portion of the human race. Why do you think there's so many references to Sheep and the Lamb of God, etc... in the bible. Sheep haven't even been a predominant agricultural element in the history of man... Clearly the Chicken holds that title. So I take the reference to be more aligned with human culture and descriptive behavior than anything else.
A final note on the rewards... there are no rewards tied to compassion if it's true selfless giving. Back on the selfish element. But the reality boiled down to simple tribal survival tactics... the tribe that takes care of it's members is stronger and lives to hunt another day than one that doesn't. That's the reward for compassion...
"If you want to be a monk... you gotta cook a lot of rice...”
"With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion."

The reward is how you feel after giving a few hours, or a few days of your valuable time for someone else in need...
