Actually, the cycle is about every 7ish years...so were due for another recession in a couple years.

The stock market is going to do well in the next few years, reach an all time high, then the bottom will fall out again. Look at yesterday.....good news on the European front with the whole bonds issue. S&P had its biggest gain in 4 yrs. Upward trend in the market will continue...and when it reaches the all time high and maybe a little bit more, take your loot the hell out of the market!!!!

It's a bit more complicated than just saying we have a recession every 7 years. First we have outsourced a huge number of jobs and industries over the last couple of decades. Then the government got rid of the banking regulations put in place that were to help avoid another great depression due to wreak less banking practices. Then you have a Federal Reserve central bank that keeps the interest rates so low they create real estate bubbles. Then you have a lame congress that can't pass any kind of budget so employers have no idea what their taxes are going to be year to year so they hold back on one of their biggest expenses which is hiring employees.

Also the government seems to be into regulating everything it should stay out of and not regulating the things that it should.

There is no quick fix because the current batch of business leaders and politicians could care less about the average person. People get elected and go to Washington DC and end up getting rich peddling their influence and business leaders do whatever they have to do to maximize their short-term profit regardless of how that negatively influences the company and it's employees long-term.

As far as the political parties go, they both are guilty. If you really look at what is going on they both are sellouts. The bankers get whatever they want and the government contractors get whatever they want regardless of whether there is a Republican or Democrat in the White House. People need to look beyond political parties and all the media hype to see what the problem is. I love election time because you just hear more bullshit promises that they never deliver and yet people still believe bullshit. The reality is more: Read my lips, I didn't have sex with that woman, weapons of mass destruction, I'm bringing the troops home and closing Gitmo. They are all liars.

The stock market is rigged and it's real simple how it's done. Central banks like the Federal Reserve give the large banks interest free loans and then they take that and buy stocks. It has nothing to do with reality. Usually the economy rallies before elections as well because politicians can do short-term things to help the economy. Nobody wants a horrid economy at election time.

The thing is non of this is based on any kind of economic reality which is people producing products and services and people buy them in a free market. It's based on interest rate manipulation that some guy in a central bank pulls out of a hat and crony capitalism at the investment bank level. It's all rigged.

Or people buy into bullshit bonds like what's going on in Europe now and feel that the ship has been righted until it hits an iceberg and everyone goes down with the ship. Get on board now and enjoy the elevator ride to the top floor before the cables snap and it plummets through the basement again. Bonds have paved the way to financial windfall in the past.......speculation is always a shaky proposition.

That's always been true and you know what, those who expect a quick fix, the instant gratification society, are the real idiots. I can't get in to the nuts and bolts of everything this president has done so far, but those who constantly imply he's done nothing are just haters, plain and simple. I've seen the steps he's taken or has tried to take as steps in a far better direction then if it were McCain in there.

I also agree, however, that it is unfortunate that the ultimate choice is between two parties. The views of Independents belong at the debates.

I agree....you can't say a President has done "nothing"........you can't even judge a President 100% accurately until sometime after they have left office and history allows time to reflect on what kind of impact....good or bad they left on the country. Even W. has some decent accomplishments.....no president does "nothing". I'm not saying W. was a great President.....far from it.....he was just another puppet anyway and the evil geniuses behind the scenes ran the show....just like they did for his pops and good ol' Ronnie boy.....Reagan and W's cabinets and underlings even had some of the good ol' boys from way back in the police state days of Tricky Dick Nixon. And even Nixon, that mental patient had some positive accomplishments!

Do you even recognize your own hypocrisy here?

If a hurricane wipes out your house, it's OK to get money from the government. If a disease wipes out your body, not so much.

Of course Governor Piyush is a hypocrite too, talking shit about the Stimulus bill in public, and then taking billions of federal dollars to rebuild the levees and the Huey P. Long bridge.

I am impressed at how good you are at formulating what you wanna say.

But unfortunatelly, I don't think arguments based on common sense are gonna do much here...

Europe has the same central banking problem. In fact the center of the world's banking fraud is The City of London because it's so unregulated there. In fact it was the British House of Lords that uncovered huge transfers of money from the US Federal Reserve Bank going into banks in the UK. So what's going on is there is money above the table and below the table being transferred. I think when the smoke finally clears the world will see the largest international banking fraud in world history involving north American and European central banks, investment banks, and large commercial banks. You know the same banks who seem to have a revolving door between the political centers and the financial centers.

What really happened in Europe and North America is the large banks bought enough politicians and influence to do whatever they wanted but now they have made so much funny money, speculated beyond belief and now they are trying to stick the average tax payer with huge debts. It's blown up because it's beyond common sense and mathematically unsustainable. It's a half-century of political and financial shenanigans coming to roost. All they can do is start more wars hoping they will be a distraction from the banking problems. The banks need a huge world crises to get out of the mess they created and they are trying to do it now. They need a bad guy and it looks like Iran is their victim of choice. Also it's why they are trying to destabilize the middle east. I bet the bankers are backing the Islamic Brotherhood doing all they can to put the religious nutjobs in power.

I said it six months ago in here the Islamic Brotherhood would take over Egypt and look at it now. That's what happened. Don't think western bankers weren't behind this.
