I think US special forces just weren't very good back then.

Not true man-for-man, but organizationally perhaps. Remember, a lot of senior members had significant amount of operational experience from Vietnam and these guys did know what they were doing. One of the main problems is that there wasn't a lot of institutional respect for special operations "Sneaky Petes" and "Snake Eaters" in the regular Pentagon brass structure, going back even to WWII. A lot of what happened after Vietnam at Ft. Bragg, NC (home of the Green Berets) involving drug use and adrenaline junkyism didn't reassure them nor make much of the case for commandos, so they were largely marginalized in the 1970s. Even Gen. Schwarzkopf said something to the effect that prior to his attitudes changing during the Gulf War, he thought that Special Forces Green Berets were arrogant rogues and basically ate steak and drank cold beer in mountain base camps while he and his "poor bloody (regular) infantry" had to trudge through rice paddies eating cold C-rats and do the 'real' dirty work. It wasn't until the 1980s that significant support elements were built up such as special aviation to support special operations and they were unified under one command. The Desert One/Eagle Claw fiasco actually turned out to be a sort of blessing in that it was a mistake everyone learned a great deal from...

The maximum sentence in norway is 21 years , but its meaningless in a way because as commentators said of the brevik case they can keep passing this sentence out indefinatley so a life sentence or repeated sentences of 21 years is is still life.

Norway is ranking number 15 in math/science? I have no idea if that is true, but that is pretty damn good considering that there are only 5 million people living in the country.

Obama and his whole administration should be ashamed. It was one thing back on 9-11 when Bush was in office for only 8 months and had very undetailed Intel that Al Qaeda wanted to attack America. He didn't know when or where and it was thought they wanted to use some sort of aircraft or plane, but nothing concrete.

On this 9-11, to have the President and his top people in the situation room, looking at the attack in real time and now knowing that we had troops and such that could have intervened and ultimately saved the lives that were lost and Obama did nothing for the whole 7 or 8 hrs it took place, is worth Impeachment to the highest degree. Hell, any President in this situation deserves Impeachment and to be thrown out of the White House for this lack of incompetence and major cover up and flat out lying to the American people.
