when I was little it was magic....pure magic.

Mom would get us to help in making ornaments, making cookies, decorating the tree, listening to old Christmas albums. And Christmas eve we would go to Grandparents house for such a terrific meal and get to open the gifts from them. Then the drive home Dad would always point out Santas sleigh with Rudolphs red nose out front so we had to hurry home to bed. I didn't realize until later that the San Diego airport flightpath was on our way home & those rudolph noses were incoming flights.

When I got a little older it became a time when everything changed and I was the one who enjoyed giving one great gift to each person. Something that when they'd open it they would grin ear to ear, laugh out loud, maybe tear up...something that they would remember as the best gift that year from anyone. I put a lot of effort into it and would really get some great gifts for people that meant alot to them.

Now I'm much older, don't have friends around, grandparents & mom are gone, no dogs to stick reindeer ears on, no family worth a phone call, and no huge meal to look forward to. With those gone all I see is the commercialism, politics, and fighting between religious & non religious types over a time of year that used to be special. No reason to play along any more for me. Makes me sad when I hear of people spending more time in line before a store opens up than at home gathered on the couch watching Charlie Brown. Sad indeed.

I agree. But the problem is nowadays every woman is a whore in the bedroom and so very few are a lady in public. Back in my grandparents time it was the opposite. I think men are largely responsible for the shift as we pushed women more & more to be whores for us & cared less and less about taking them to nice dinners, art galleries & cocktail parties.

I miss Blonde Girl She helped class up the joint here for sure.

You gotta have the yin with the yang or the whole thing goes out of balance. You have to balance the whore out with sophistication and goodness. The class was coming back in the 80's. We were recovering from the slob hippie years and then dropped the ball with the grunge thing and never got it back.

If people don't like it the solution is simple. Don't eat at McDonald's. I love it when people complain about a corporation and then later you see them doing business with them. Don't bitch about Walmart and then shop there. People are such hypocrites.
