Theres a couple AR-15 manufactures. The guns have been popular over the years because you can customize them easy. If you have a bench vise and a few special AR-15 Tools you can make what you want. The barrels screw in and can be changed easy. There are a zillion different kinds of parts you can buy. Most the people I know who have AR-15's built their own guns and there are all these debates who makes the best parts. I hear Olympic mentioned quite a bit but it seems like everyone is into Rock River Arsenal receivers. They have a lot of material around the front hinge point that always seems to crack and break over time. There's a zillion AR-15 parts out there and some are good and some suck.

“First of all, if the government were to come to disarm you, you would not be able to use an automatic weapon to defend yourself. Let’s be serious. As a result of the recent NY SAFE ACt we have halted sales of rifles, short barreled rifles, short barreled shotguns, machine guns, and silencers to New York governmental agencies...
Buxton, ME --(Ammoland.com)- Based on the recent legislation in New York, we are prohibited from selling rifles and receivers to residents of New York.
We have chosen to extend that prohibition to all governmental agencies associated with or located within New York.

I agree. But with certain caveats. But yes, men (and now women) with personal weapons will be an essential part of war for the foreseeable future...
We bombed the hell out of North Vietnam and they just dug in and waited us out.
Drones just shoot or drop the same old weapons.
I love how the liberals are sounding all militant these days. Turn em in, we have better weapons than you. A liberal is a non conformist who believes people should be left alone to do whatever they want. I'm not seeing too many liberals these days. They are mostly warmongering thugs pointing to drones all the time now.
Having lots of military style semi-assault rifles around doesn't guarantee anything. If that were the case, the Federal gov't wouldn't be able to basically squash terrorists like the SLA or the Aryan movements so easily. And just because the whole population isn't armed doesn't mean that a gov't can murder its citizens with impunity as Libya and Syria show...Last edited by Nickdfresh; 02-15-2013, 04:57 PM.Comment

A Colorado company is threatening to leave the state if a bill to ban high-capacity ammunition magazines becomes law.
Company Threatens To Leave Colorado If Ammo Limit Law Is Passed
ERIE, Colo. (CBS4) – A Colorado company is threatening to leave the state if a bill to ban high-capacity ammunition magazines becomes law.
CBS4 Investigator Rick Sallinger toured the company in Erie. They said they would certainly prefer to stay.
The company is called Magpul. Among other products, they make ammunition magazines which can hold up to 30 rounds. Tuesday night a state House committee took the first step towards banning them.
Magpul is one of the largest producers of the high-capacity magazines in the country.
“Actually, every product you see here being made today on these magazine assembly lines would be affected by the bill,” Duane Liptak with Magpul told Sallinger during the tour.
The company’s chief operating officer, Doug Smith, made it clear to the state legislature that if the bill becomes law they will leave Colorado.
“We will be forced to take our operation and business activity through our subcontractors and suppliers out of the state,” Smith told lawmakers.
The bill in its present form would ban magazines carry over 15 rounds. Magpul has those that carry more, as displayed on its website.
The company has some 200 workers. It says another 400 suppliers and contractors would be affected by a move. But the committee chairman, Rep. Daniel Kagan, D-Cherry Hills Village, insisted there is no need to move.
“Your understanding of the bill is completely wrong,” Kagan said. “There is no restriction on manufacturing high-capacity magazines or anything else in the state of Colorado.”
Liptak said that’s not accurate.
“It may be not have been what they intended when they drafted the language, however that’s exactly how the bill reads,” Liptak said.
Magpul calls itself a “proud Colorado company,” but says in part for ideological reasons it cannot stay if the state bans one of its major products.A NATION OF COWARDS - Jeffrey R. SnyderComment

Missouri Democrat state Rep. Rory Ellinger has put forth H.B. 545, which would ban "assault weapons" and many semi-automatic pistols. It would give owners of said weapons 90 days to either turn them in or get them out of the state...
MO Democrat Proposes Gun Ban, 90 Days to Turn in ‘Assault Weapons’
Washington DC - -(Ammoland.com)- Missouri Democrat state Rep. Rory Ellinger has put forth H.B. 545, which would ban “assault weapons” and many semi-automatic pistols. It would give owners of said weapons 90 days to either turn them in or get them out of the state.
After 90 days, those in possession of such weapons would face class “C” felony charges.
The legislation defines an “assault weapon” as a rifle with a detachable magazine and any “one or more of the following: a pistol grip or thumbhole stock… protruding grip that can be held by nontrigger hand, a folding or telescoping stock, [or] a shroud attached to the barrel” that protects the shooter from being burned from the heat of barrel.
The legislation also bans semi-automatic pistols with a fixed magazine capable of holding more than 10 rounds or a detachable magazine and “one or more of the following” features: “a protruding grip,” “a folding stock,” or “a shroud attached to the barrel” that protects the shooter from being burned from the heat of the barrel.
The legislation applies similar ban rules to semi-automatic shotguns.
Concerned Missourians should contact their state representatives and tell them to oppose H.B. 545.A NATION OF COWARDS - Jeffrey R. SnyderComment

I already anwered that question...but, when you remove supposed -trollpost- you remove pertinant information that makes the thread dissjointed, like this one is, it should be two pages longer.
This post of mine was in the cop shooter thread, but it is still exactly the rebuttle you need, Nick.
Originally posted by clarathecarrotI don't want to instigate fear in anyone or elevate this cop killer guy but the sad thing is as applied towards that school shooting and many other attacks.
The government wants the magazines and assault weapons to protect innocents from attack that has to be true doesn't it...?
However this cop killer scenario and that school yard gives a heavy lesson that one man can do much damage and the government fears that, of us,.. and that is why it was put in the Constitution to keep the government in check.
The government is a machine if left unchecked can destroy us.. WE!! are the important part of this thing called life. Not the machine.
The officials and thier greed will have no fear and the end will come when we have not that ability to control it thru honesty justice and firepower.
Let's hope that never comes to light.
Waiting for the government to eat itself alive is wrong acting before the need is wrong...so what is reight hope that your representative will do the right thing...who know ask some LA Mayor and some Chicago mayors about that Cocain nose and it's need to feed.Last edited by clarathecarrot; 02-15-2013, 02:06 PM.2015 once smoke 2 smoke ...poke

I'm not sure I believe everything coming from "Ammoland." But even if it is completely true and not taken out of context, it's still one state level representative tantamount to saying imminent internet censorship because one fuckwit in the Georgia State House thinks photoshops should be banned if they're mean...Comment

Obama Care amendment inadvertently Fucks the Anti Gun Fascists
AWR HAWKINS 9 Jan 2013
Good news -- it has become known that hidden deep within the massive 2800-page bill called Obamacare there is a Senate Amendment protecting the right to keep and bear arms.
It seems that in their haste to cram socialized medicine down the throats of the American people, then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Barack Obama overlooked Senate amendment 3276, Sec. 2716, part c.
According to reports, that amendment says the government cannot use doctors to collect "any information relating to the lawful ownership or possession of a firearm or ammunition."
CNN is calling it "a gift to the nation's powerful gun lobby."
And according to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), that's exactly right. He says he added the provision in order to keep the NRA from getting involved in the legislative fight over Obamacare, which was so ubiquitous in 2010.Comment
