From those videos it seems like it would have been more effective to outlaw Body armour. I think people would still Rob banks with Pistols and Shotguns.

Body armor IS effectively outlawed. Committing a gun crime in it is an automatic felony. But you can't kill anyone by just wearing body armor, obviously..

The North Hollywood bank robbers used weapons that were already illegal. Full automatic weapons. Proof the gun control didn't work. Gun control will only disarm the honest people. Much like how locks keep the honest people honest. Hey if you are willing to die for the cause, it's pretty hard to stop a person from doing it. Turning the country into a smothering police state trying to eliminate a few murders isn't worth it. People have been killing other people for a long time and it's not going to stop.

It's cognitive dissonance. It's on both sides of the isle. People just can't believe what they put so much emotional energy into over the years is one big farce. It's like telling someone their religion is false. Political ideologies go back generations in many cases. Bullshit! The guns were purchased "legally," and then converted to full auto or cyclic. Just as the drug gangs in Mexico do. If assault weapons were less available, more easily tracked, and sold only under universal background checks, then violence would go down and they wouldn't be used in mass shootings as often. You're of course doing a simple regurgitation of NRA propaganda, the NRA that has attempted to censor any studies performed by the Center for Disease Control because they statistically showed that having a gun in the house increased the likelihood of a murder in said house by eight times fold IIRC...

I don't consider the slaughter of 20 children (and 6 adults) to be an "opportunity" for anything.

But what it should be is a goddamned wake up call. Nobody needs to own assault weapons, and mental cases like Lanza and his mother shouldn't even be allowed to own a goddamn super soaker.
