I don't know about homicide...but I know when I tried Champix to quit smoking it made me suicidal. Wasn't depressed prior, but two weeks into the treatment I suddenly started crying and wanted nothing more than to be dead. Stopped taking it and I was fine...

As you know they are usually diagnosed on a "Spectrum" . The differences between the individuals is as far as you can imagine.

There are a number of misdiagnoses as well.

Sometimes these diagnoses occur very early and aren't necessarily readdressed. They could have been incorrect from the very beginning.

Sometimes a well-meaning doctor will apply a "Spectrum" diagnosis to assist the family in obtaining treatment when like you say they have no idea of the problem.

My guess is in this case the situation may have been schizophrenia or bi-polar or a combination. Aspergers does not lead to this type of pre-meditated behaviour ever. There was much more going on here.

Schizophrenia is an interesting one, to say the least...

There's a mental diagnosis that I've seen once in all my many years of working with kids, and it was clear...all the classic symptoms, and the kid was ten years old.

He went to two doctors...

The first said, "He doesn't have schizophrenia...kids can't have it at this age..."

The parent (and the kid was a twin) got a second opinion, and the second doctor said,

"classic case..."

The parent wanted a definitive answer, so went to a third doctor, who said,

"He's on that 'spectrum,' but I can't be sure. We'll have to document it over time."

I actually liked the third answer the best, because you can't meet a kid in one day, especially closing in on puberty, and have a fucking clue what the fuck they are...but for some reason, the answer screamed of "come back for more money..."
