A city councilman called for hearings Tuesday into whether NYPD precincts are fudging crime statistics after the Daily News revealed probes at one Brooklyn stationhouse.

"Crime numbers should never be manipulated," said Councilman Peter Vallone Jr., the head of the Public Safety Committee.

Vallone said cops have told him that crime numbers are manipulated, but none will testify in front of the Council for fear of retribution.

Sesh, I'll address your BULLSHIT about the "environment" in some other global warming hoax thread. Scotland's incessant socialism has ruined your ability to worry about Scotland's pathetic record on crime.
Oh, look at bullshit boy go! You're spanked on the facts, so now you resort to the tired old cliches. So, are more people being killed in NYC now or less?

      Nick,
The down turn started with Rudy and the "broken windows" policy. That's after Rudy's election win NYC dems "felt like they had punched in the stomach." I don't think even under Rudy crime was getting reported because Rudy was firing NYC police leaders for low results.

If it were not for a jump in the number of Apple products stolen, New York City crime would be down this year, officials said.

      iPhones?

Bloomberg blamed a failed bombing on Obamacare. Show me in the crime stats categories where that one fell into. It was failed crime and not counted. Same for the others.

To answer your question I really hope less people are getting killed. I didn't see any news of people rubbing their hands in glee. Is there a link between murder rates and soda size?

      How about this?

In Medical Triumph, Homicides Fall Despite Soaring Gun Violence
      WSJ online

"The number of U.S. homicides has been falling for two decades, but ... the number of people treated for gunshot attacks from 2001 to 2011 has grown by nearly half.

"The potential for a victim to survive a wound is greater than it was 15 years ago. Emergency-room physicians who treat victims of gunshot and knife attacks say more people survive because of the spread of hospital trauma centers—which specialize in treating severe injuries—the increased use of helicopters to ferry patients, better training of first-responders and lessons gleaned from the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan."

Nick, the crime has been dropping since 1992. Goodbye Dinkins. The cops in NYC were never the problem.

Even with NYC gun laws, the violent crime rate nationwide is now a little more than 50% of what it was 20 years ago and that's with the rest of the country having less restrictive gun laws.

Even so, are you going to leave your affluent suburb in Buffalo to move to the Bronx to prove my point? Me either. You'll find me in Largo. (heh)

What I really hope is: more parents raised their kids to have respect for life.

Isn't it late in Berlin? And (OT) I just saw this:

The latest news and headlines from Yahoo News. Get breaking news stories and in-depth coverage with videos and photos.

BERLIN (AP) -- Germany's second-biggest airline, Air Berlin PLC, says Niki Lauda has left the company's board to devote more time to his new role with the Mercedes Formula One team.

The three-time Formula One world champion became a non-executive director at Air Berlin, which integrated his Vienna-based airline, Niki, in late 2011.

Lauda is joining the Mercedes team as the non-executive chairman of its board of directors. The team's drivers for 2013 are Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg.

The genius googled 'Scottish Socialist' which quite rightly returned The Scottish Socialist Party' which he then posts a link to.

            A masterly performance.

At the last election they got 0.4% of the vote...

Since you seem to have mistaken indifference with you for once getting one over on me, I said people would burst into flames.

Like they did in the pure oxygen environment in the Apollo 1 mission.
