Alex Jones Is a Crazy Nutcase And Other Relevant Information
I hate to give Alex Jones ANY mention because the guy is a major conspiracy theorist spreading a ton of disinformation. I mean – guys like Alex Jones have to exist because from time to time he’ll share something that is actually true and our mainstream media won’t touch it. Unfortunately – he has such a tremendous crazy taint surrounding him that any time he actually espouses a position I share – I worry that I will be thrown in with the crazy nutcase Alex Jones lot.
So – I’m not a fan. He completely loses it on Piers Morgan at the 2:30 mark ; it’s entertaining and sensational so it makes for good tv. While I don’t worry about black helicopters and a tyrannical government taking our guns; I do stand intellectually with the pro-gun crowd relative to their right to gun ownership. Where I part ways is in things like high capacity magazines and assault rifles; I would submit that Americans can live better without them.
Alex Jones finds a conspiracy under every rock he turns it would seem, but I would agree that people must be vigilant to ensure our democracy doesn’t slide into the hands of a tyrannical government. This isn’t an Obama conspiracy or anything that I would even consider a potential in my lifetime; however – I do think students of history will recognize this will always be a threat to democracy. This happened as recently as 1933 with the Banking Plot under FDR; for some reason – we don’t teach our kids about this attempted coup HERE. So – guns … I’m for em’. And it isn’t nuts to protect Americans from a future potential threat.
Unfortunately – it’s Alex Jones advocating for that position in the craziest of ways. Americans love guns and it’s a right. Period. It’s in the Constitution. But gun lovers need to get over their bullshit as seeing the banning of assault weapons as somehow being tyrannical overreach. It isn’t.
Some like to say an AR-15 is the same exact gun as some .22 caliber hunting rifle; it just looks scarier. My response is: GREAT. Then you’re not really losing anything when you start buying .22 caliber hunting rifles instead if they’re really the same gun. But real gun owners know – those guns are very different.
Piers Morgan brought facts and data; Alex Jones brought his opinion and his feelings. If people start talking about “2nd amendment solutions” like when Senate candidate Sharron Angle (R-NV) ran in 2010 HERE - those people should be locked up with the rest of the criminals.
CNN has Piers Morgan’s response on his interview with Alex Jones HERE:
Morgan says Jones’ rant backfired, making Morgan’s point for him.
“I can’t think of a better advertisement for gun control than Alex Jones’ interview last night,” he said Tuesday on CNN’s “Newsroom.” “It was startling, it was terrifying in parts. It was completely deluded. It was based on a premise of making Americans so fearful that they all rush out to buy even more guns.”
“I think silence was the best weapon against him because he just dug himself an ever bigger hole,” Morgan said, adding that Jones “spouts dangerous nonsense.”
