We've seen over and over that you can't trust the "intelligence" gathering of this country...

healthy skepticism is fine, but it still requires some critical thinking.

there is no real reason for the U.S. to lie about chemical weapons. U.S. public opinion is solidly against actual involvement in syria. so we've been staying out of it, mostly. obama drew his line in the sand against chemical weapons, hoping that it would discourage assad from using them. if assad doesn't use them, then we can stay out of it. if he doesn't, we either have to get involved or our foreign policy pressure is exposed as inept. but we wind up doing pretty close to the bear minimum. small arms.

we don't gain much by getting involved. so why would the government be deceptive?

what role? barely nothing. if we did much more, russia would make a very large issue out of it. it's way too much of a stretch to assume that russia would be in on the conspiracy.
