Um, yeah, they can. Mercedes doesn't use a special, nonflammable gas. Mercs were also amongst the first cars (along with most German ones) to absorb the energy of an impact to increase passenger survivability...Comment

I suspected as much, considering the fountain of water coming out of the ground near the remains of the car (completely unrelated to the neighbor with the garden hose)
But I doubt very seriously that hitting a fire hydrant would have that kind of impact on the structure of the vehicle. In fact if he had merely hit the hydrant and not the tree, he might have kept driving. Some damage, probably. Engine and transmission ripped out? Not a chance.Eat Us And Smile

Most the press has been consolidated and bought up by a few people. 1n the 1980's there were over 200 media companies in the US, now we have around five. Karen Hudes (World Bank whistle blower) got rehired by the World Bank after she was fired for exposing corruption in the bank. When she went to a conference at the bank headquarters in Washington DC a private security firm that did security for the bank had her arrested for trespassing; even though she had a valid badge she was taken to a Washington DC precinct jail. It turns out the private security firm is owned by the same people who have bought up much of our media.
We need to restore the free press and free markets. Right now the financial markets are manipulated by a few people and the press is owned by a few people. When asked who these people were Karen Hudes said she's not exactly sure, she said some of her contacts in British intelligence think it's some old money in Germany. She made the point that if we restore the rule of law then it doesn't matter how much money people have, nobody should be above the law.
So there clearly is a war against reporters, whistle blowers, and groups who oppose the current status quo. Was there a motive to kill this reporter? Sure. Was he killed? It's too early to tell. Gasoline can catch on fire. Fuel injected cars have inertia switches that are suppose to turn off the fuel pump if the car crashes into something. Sometimes they fail and you have at least 30PSI of fuel pressure shooting fuel. If it catches fire then it spreads quick. A fire hydrant is a big chunk of cast iron. Hitting one at high speed could do a lot of damage to a car. Engines and transmissions are held by mounting brackets and they can rip loose. To meet the higher mileage requirements cars are built more flimbsy than they used to be. I don't think Mercedes quality is what it used to be. Part of it is Mercedes has to cut weight like all other manufactures do. My dad was a Mercedes man and that's all he drove. The old ones were built like tanks. The engine and drive train would go under the passenger compartment if they broke loose and the steering wheel would accordian instead of lunging towards the driver. They were great cars. I drove a newer Mercedes and frankly didn't think much of it. Lexus has given the European manufactures a lot of competition and frankly some of the new BMW's are crap and have all sorts of electrical issues. European cars are not what they used to be in many cases.
We probably will not get the truth on what happened and if we do it will be years from now. That doesn't change the obvious problem that our press and our government have been hijacked by a few people who have a full understanding of how the financial and governmental systems work. They have been using private contractors to do their dirty work and even have people who are legally somewhere arrested. We need to take a hard look at what's going on in the media (It's a biased monopoly) and see what is going on in these private security firms. We have too many private contractors doing what should be done by the military itself or by institutions and agencies themselves. What we have is crony capitalism in bed with the government manipulating what should be free markets. This endangers the value of our money, our national security, and the rule of law in our government. We have reporters being harassed by the IRS and Justice Department and maybe even murdered. We can debate whether this guy was murdered but we all are aware we have a serious problem with an out of control federal government.
If you haven't contacted your senators and congressmen about these issues I suggest you do so. Karen Hudes said three senators were a big help getting her back into the World Bank. Some of these people have been aware of these problems for years but were lone voices in the wilderness and now we all see it. There is power in numbers and it's apparently just a few people who knew who, what, and where to corrupt. Congress has enormous power to fix these problems but unless the American people demand change en mass. The .00!% whoever they may be will win and make our lives hell. These people now control most the stock market now.Last edited by Nitro Express; 06-21-2013, 02:25 AM.No! You can't have the keys to the wine cellar!Comment

I witnessed an accident where a fast moving car hit a parked car. It hit so hard that the aluminum wheel on the left rear tire shattered and the sudden loss of air pressure of the tire sounded like a big cannon went off. BOOM! It might have not been the fuel tank that made the explosion. If there was a bomb the forensics can tell but then we will have conspiracy of government coverup there as well. I mean there is zero trust in the government anymore. No! You can't have the keys to the wine cellar!Comment
