I guess Wiener was a bit of a hound that dated really hot women before and that is probably more likely the mystique that keeps her with him. Even if all the above is true in terms of Weiner's past abilities at promoting progessive ideas/legislation, he's just damaged goods. Not as damaged as Spitzer, perhaps, but damaged just the same. Weiner's candidacy is too much of a sideshow now, and with this latest disclosure...well, even though Weiner had stated a caveat that there were more pictures which might surface...he's just too much of a distraction.

Nobody can honestly say that Clinton's last two years in office were nearly as effective as they might have been, because Clinton was too busy engaging in damage control regarding his personal life. Weiner, having already resigned from one elected position because of similar circumstances, finds himself in this same Clintonion quandry again...and he hasn't even been elected yet!

If we're gonna be honest, there are plenty of other NYC Dem candidates for mayor out there who embrace much of what Weiner advocates, don't have the personal baggage and would be just as effective in the job as Weiner.

There are a lot of problems in NYC that need to be addressed, but the solutions aren't necessarily dependant on Weiner being elected: for the good of the party and the good of the city, he should step aside.
