There's more work opportunities than people think. If you are reasonably intelligent and willing to work hard, you will always find something. There are always people looking for good people to hire. Talk to anyone who hires people. Good employees are hard to find. People have gotten lazy and they want to start higher than their experience is worth.

Oh yes. Being a carpenter and home builder is a real exotic occupation. I do know a lot of people and guess what they have to make a living.
