That's true. I suppose Pres. Ford could have helped years ago.

I guess what bothers me some, is a guy like Mitt Romney for example, claims all the good things about his term as governor of Massachusetts but doesn't have the time or fortitude to take a shot at fixing a major city in his home state.

Mitt probably can't can't get elected but Dean or Bloomberg could.

Mitt ran away from his health care plan, too.......when he was running for President.

The guy just comes off as a say anything, do anything......it's my birthright to rule the peasants kinda guy. Like Gore but without a shred of social conscience.

Pretty much what Republicans are doing in general, I think several states with hard right Republicans have Ramacare (a statewide version of the Affordable Care Act), but never Obama Care!

Resurgent Detroit: 5 Things To Check Out In The Motor City In January

                ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

                New enough for you, nick?

                -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anyway, KK, most of those guys are flame throwers and don't want to do the work. But more important, it seems to me, is how the city threw other peoples money around and the 'real pensions' will take the hit.

I''d hate to see someone lose their heat over the bankruptcy settlement.

Looking at Illinois, their pensions are under funded to the tune of about $115B. In Detroit, the same thing happened where the checks still went out. I think someone thought the state would bail out the pensions. The bond holders got taken to the cleaners.

I also took a look at New Jersey because of DLR Bridge and it looks like you could retire at 45 and get a state employee pension. And that's what I was referring to about a 'real pension'.

Retirement and pension at 45 is a pipe dream and unsustainable...

You deserve to lose your pension if you think the state is going to take care of you while you jack off to porn...
