Ah, none of us are gonna be around in 2050. Humanity is doomed anyway so might as well enjoy the warm weather.

That's what I love about science, it deals in facts and doesn't bend to what you desperately want to believe. You think all science and anything beneficial to mankind has to be inherently bad or some plot to try and tax the corporations who are gracious stewards of the earth.

Please tell me how fracking is actually good for the environment and that burning fossil fuels is actually giving us cleaner air!

So you're for polluted air, unsafe drinking water, contaminated soil and an unsustainable habitat

It's amazing watching you continually support everything that is against your own self interest

You can't dispute the data that goes back to the 1880's that says 2014 was the hottest year on record..........it's a fact.

What the deniers dispute is what the cause is and that somehow pollution is a good thing, that should never be regulated!

Clean air, clean water and uncontaminated soil are bad things

I was just sitting here, thinking back to 1986 and remembering it hitting 104 degrees in July. Turns out it was only 103. And that's with probably 90something percent Southern humidity. It was like Vietnam, only nobody was shooting at you.

I may be a Redneck (Ok, I am), but I'm all for reducing emissions, alternative fuel sources for cars, all that stuff. Hell I wish I could afford a Tesla Roadster. There's a guy in town who has a Tesla Model S sedan and godalmighty it's bad ass. And surprisingly the MSRP on one of em turns out to be around 70 grand. Now, that's a ton of money but it's a full electric. Sure, it costs money to charge it. But...if I was driving one every day like my usual commute was - 88 miles a day - it would only cost me a little over 3 bucks a day to drive. Compare that to gas around 3 bucks a gallon and that's 7 dollars a day cheaper. Now, once they figure out a way to make full electrics cheap enough to compete with "economy" priced daily beaters then I'd be all over one.

Tesla's next product line is supposed to be aimed toward the "mainstream" car market, and priced accordingly. But what would really make them affordable is a home charging station that used solar and/or wind power. It would cost more up front to get set up, obviously, but after that, your fuel costs would be practically zero, at least for the local commute.

It's all a shell game by our government and it's oil masters!

Why in the fuck would you give huge tax rebates and government subsidies for oil companies to come up with green technologies? Really

BMW already has a car that gets 100 mpg on regular gas and guess what........it's banned from being sold in America!

The technology is already available and cost effective for the US to reduce it's dependence on oil.........countries all over the world are getting the majority of their energy from renewable resources but to hear our elected representatives talk about it, it's akin to Nazism!

The majority of Americans want renewable energy, it's in our best interest for national defense, it would reduce the amount of money that the terrorists get and would clean up our planet.

Yet somehow this is a bad idea or it's communism (which I've noticed most mouth breathers who spew socialism or communism as their counterpoint have no idea what those words mean).

Their logic is mind boggling.......the way to solve pollution and devastating environmental impact is to have less regulations and more pollution or just bury their heads in the sand and pretend it doesn't exist . Just like having more guns will stop gun violence, more tax breaks for the job creators who haven't created any jobs but will create more jobs with more tax breaks and more war will bring less war

                        Eh, I'll pass.

My father worked as a mechanic and I can remember him telling me tales of how the Japanese researched and developed cars that would exceed 100 miles to a gallon. This was back in the 70's so the technology is nothing new.

Did you also know that Volkswagen has a 300 mpg car that's also banned from the US!

I'm sure the right thinking patriots here have a good explanation why banning this car is a good thing

You won't find the 300 MPG Volkswagen XL1 in an American showroom, in fact it has even been denied a tour of America because it is too efficient for the American public to be made widely aware of, and oil profits are too high in America with the status quo in place. Actually the technologies for alternative fuels have been around since the invention of the car. Ford only went with gas because at the time it was the cheaper fuel.

It's the same thing with solar panels.........they're way cheaper than they sell them for and it's just another way to keep us dependent on foreign oil and coal.

Greed wins over the environment every time!

What I'm 'disputing" is the claim of hottest year. The story is based on immeasurable temperature differences that are based on hundredths of a degree temperature differences.

The scientists said the temp for 2014 was 0.07F higher than records set in 2010 and 2005.

A temperature record based on hundredths of a degree difference means that the global warming pause is continuing.

Climatologist Dr. Judith Curry, former chair of the school of earth and atmospheric sciences at Georgia Institute of Technology, had this to say about 2014 being the ‘hottest year’: “The ‘warmest year’ is noticeably missing in the satellite data sets of lower atmospheric temperatures,” Curry wrote on January 16. Curry predicts another decade of a global warming ‘pause’ or ‘hiatus’. “I’ve made my projection – global surface temperatures will remain mostly flat for at least another decade,” she explained

“With 2014 essentially tied with 2005 and 2010 for hottest year, this implies that there has been essentially no trend in warming over the past decade. This ‘almost’ record year does not help the growing discrepancy between the climate model projections and the surface temperature observations,” Curry told the Washington Post.

KK, I didn't leap to dirty air, water, or soil, or pumping oil. If you want a conversation about any of these topics, you know I'll get with you in another thread.

This is because VW is owned by the "Globalist" who want other globalist to buy water filters that "weed out" the leftist alien influence of America so that the oil and coal industries can flourish and plume their toxic sludge into the air in order to defeat liberal communism.

Though the XL1 can hit 300 mpg under ideal driving conditions, it's combined mileage is usually a little over 200 mpg, and if you do city driving only that will drop to a minimum of 180 mpg under the worst driving conditions."

And everybody knows worst driving conditions are nothing more than Obama libtard socialist plot to bring more illegals over the border to manicure the lawns of rich white people...er, I mean instil their Islamic influence in our classrooms. It's all there, people. Black and white. We have the documents that George Soros wants to bring in the 300 mpg VW in order to bring chaos to the world market so that the oil and gas companies become bankrupt. Once that happens, the New World Order will begin unless you buy some shitty vitamins made out of sawdust, horse feces and ground up plastic that will in no way rot your liver or kidney but bring back white male machismo of wife beatings and the return of white trash wrestling culture.

Of course the 300 mpg VW is a Soros Communist ideology along with the BMW. There is no need for cleaner air, a reduction in carbon emissions (particularly from coal fired plants) when you can buy Chinese made water filters and iodine that will defeat the globalist system and bring down the banks but not all banks. After all, I need someplace to put my money after fleecing all the idiots and PT Barnum suckers I can find.
