There are numerous teachers I come up with that I don't think should remotely be put in that situation. I would say the majority of these folks aren't fit to be classroom marshalls.

Well exactly my woodwork teacher shouldn't have been allowed near sharp objects never mind firearms, I had an art teacher who would retire to a back room and come back into class with his eyes like saucers, my classics teacher was drunk by lunchtime.

The thought of arming these people is to me insane. And I haven't even mentioned the Phs Ed teachers yet... :D

Oddly enough, the gym teacher in my youngest daughter's school is about the only one I came up with when considering candidates. No other teacher I've met over the past 7 or so years should be packing. No way.

There were some good ones of course but no offence to any teachers here but these are usually people who have gone straight from school to college to school again and so can be institutionalized. There are quite a few odd characters in the teaching profession.

As for ELVIS childishly trying to booyah this into a nationalistic thing, the stats show the US and the UK are both pretty far down the international league tables these days which doesn't bode well for the future.

Sesh, it isn't about how many kids have been killed in the past, it's about preventing ONE from being killed in the future. Teachers need to have the choice as to whether or not they want to carry. If they do carry, they will need to go through the proper training to do so. If even one or two teachers had been carrying when these past school shootings occurred, they may have been able to limit the deaths involved. Not to mention, if a person is thinking about walking into a school and shooting the place up, if he knows people might be carrying, and he doesn't know who, he might think twice about walking in there and trying to kill people. Right now, in most schools, the psycho knows with certainty, he can walk in and basically kill who he wants, virtually without resistance or immediate consequence.

I carry a Springfield XDs .45. I don't expect I'll ever have to use it on someone, nor do I want to. It's a very intimidating piece. I would hope if I am ever in the situation where it needs to come out, the motherfucker that had it drawn on them, would do what I'd do if somebody ever pulled one on me. Stop whatever I was doing to cause them to pull it on me, or turn around and run as fast as I could. Before I got my CPL, I had to take a class. I had to prove myself on the range. I had to go through a background check. I had to go in front of a board, and pass their inquiry. The bad guys do none of that, nor do they obtain their guns legally. They never will. A bad guy is simply a bad guy. The bad guys will never follow the rules.

Let's arm all the teachers, staff, janitors. EVERYONE!
We must protect ourselves.
That means ONE GUN per teacher per classroom.
Let's also teach them how to shoot and give them proper training.
They should have a gun range within the close proximity of the school (Let's say within a mile)
So the teachers can shoot rounds before or after school. ( or even have a shooting range right at the school)
But make sure if there is a gun range at the school that there is armed security in front of it to protect it, also we don't want children accessing it.
