In this country right now, it's a double edged sword. On the surface it makes sense to want younger people running the country, but on the other hand, if you have a "Democratic" candidate who can't remember any Democratic presidents before Bill Clinton, then that candidate doesn't have the slightest fucking clue what a Democrat is. Same for a Republican who can't remember anything before Reagan in their party.

Hopefully Bernie - even if he doesn't end up President - has at least inspired the younger generations to realize that this Clinton/Obama/DLC horseshit is NOT the party of FDR/JFK/LBJ/Jimmy Carter. Sadly I'm not sure that a resurrection of Eisenhower Republicans is remotely possible anymore. Superstitious nonsense? Our forefathers agreed on that stipulation to ensure The United States would be governed by a president that would put our interests first and not be unduly influenced by other countries. Imagine what the world would be like if the POTUS was a German when WWII started.

If the POTUS had been German Hitler might not have suckered the Japanese into attacking us. Especially if he made it known he was leaning towards backing Hitler or staying neutral.
As far as your other point it's not clear exactly what our forefathers actually agreed on about who can be POTUS and who can't. If Cruz would have beaten Trump we might have cleared that up this election. But he didn't. I believe the wording they used "natural born" is open for interpretation. Does that mean born on US soil or born to US citizens?

The irony of your question is in the 2008 election. Obama actually WAS born on US soil (Hawaii) while McCain was not (he was born in Colon Panama, which was outside of the canal zone, the US controlled territory at the time). McCain's parents were both US citizens, so nobody questioned his citizenship, but the "natural born" part was technically questionable. Wasn't an issue for me. Sarah Palin was what made McCain ineligible to be President.
