Did you just google Scottish Socialist and that came up? Nothing to do with me, never liked him and never voted for any of his parties. Saw him in a Supermarket once though and noticed his car was pretty expensive looking...

It was a hit back in the day - top 10.

They had a really hard time persuading Gerry Rafferty to let them use the song in RD as he didn't want it being the backdrop to violence. He was proved right to worry it's the first thing you think of when you hear the song.

Well, considering the only other hit he had was "Baker Street", he probably needed the money.

Not really, he sold 40 million albums, City to City was a #1 album in the US and UK.

He was an alcoholic but but he was still worth a couple of million when he died a few years back, Reservoir Dogs was a very small indie film when it was released so they wouldn't have paid much.

So 'Right Down The Line' for never a hit for that F A T Scottish drunk? much less Bonnie Raitt who did a cover of it?

Bonnie Raitt never had any big hits at all.

That's not a slam against her, since I have much respect for her talent. But the corporate musical world doesn't have any use for her. She can play guitar better than half of the men on the Rolling Stone "100 best guitarists" list, but doesn't fit the "Disney princess bubblegum slut" image that the record labels require to promote a female artist.

Depends what you call a "hit". I know those songs, but that's because I had decent radio stations around here before corporate radio fucked them all up. So they were "hits" in the classic FM "album rock" radio sense. Certainly not in the eMpTyV /top of the Billboard Hot 100 sense.
