To an outsider it's a strange system they have in Massachusetts.

They elect two senators, 6.7 million people get one and the Kennedy family get the other one.

If this little prick actually had any of his ancestors political gifts, that might not be so bad. I'm no fan of dynasty politics, but at least the previous Kennedys were one of the better dynasties. Joey & his cousin Patrick are more like Clintons than Kennedys. As of this morning, Markey still had a decent lead, so hopefully this will all work out for the best.

The other race in Massachusetts is just as fucked up.... you have a sitting congressman (and total corporatist) being challenged by a younger progressive and the incumbent has slandered him in all sorts of ways. The challenger happens to be gay, so the establishment has attempted to create some sort of scandal about him being a college professor and dating his students or whatever. As if that were even illegal, since college students are all of legal consenting age.

So I'll be watching TYT's coverage tonight to see how both these primaries turn out.

Yeah, good to see that the corporatists couldn't cheat a decent guy out of the Senate this time. Unfortunately the House race I mentioned above did not turn out as well. Last time I checked, the corporatist incumbent Neal was leading 60/40.

Congrats to Markey though... and a big fuck you to Jellyfish Pelosi and the others who tried to stab him in the back
