Yes, local decisions by governors, mayors, plus city/county leaders... They are the ones who control the budgets for local police. I also am aware that Biden, himself, doesn't support defunding police... but it's predominantly Democratic elected officials who have driven the spending cuts. I'm not implying Biden is responsible... I was implying Democratic/Liberal leadership in the areas mentioned were driving this and that the spike in crime is directly attributable to those policies.

Well Von, I know you aren't really very intelligent and it's sort of hard to explain things to you. Not gonna bother to look up Detroit but I', guessing the cops that patrol your lily white suburbia hell probably make a lot more than that. In Buffalo the BPD starting salary ($48k I think) isn't great either but it quickly bloats upward with things like "overtime". And after a few years most cops (about 50%) here are averaging around $76-77,000 a year. This with almost as many police making 85-100K as there are those making near the bottom new salary and above. This while often working flex schedules that can be 3-4 days on with the same off, giving them plenty of times to do gig work as security guys if they want. You've been to the greater Buffalo-Niagara area and perhaps like many living elsewhere have commented to me that we seem to have way more cops per person than nearly anywhere else. It's a comment I hear every so often...

I have the upmost respect for cops risking their lives and actually want to make their jobs EASIER by not having to be fucking social workers and mental health outreach personnel. The police should ideally serve as security for such people...
