My point is, the networks (which all wanted Gore to win the election) called the race too early, and disenfranchised voters (mostly Republicans) in the panhandle.

“(1) He has divided the country; we are all part of a vicious little hissing match. We were united and humbled on Sept. 12, 2001. We are divided and humiliated now, telling lies about each other. “

Wrong. It is the opposition Left who has divided this country. Still seething from their false belief that the 2000 election was “stolen” from them they bit their tongues in the aftermath of 9/11 (except Michael Moore who I believe criticized the President the day after) and waited for things to settle down so they could again go on the attack full throttle against Bush. The build up to the Iraq War got them fully mobilized.

”(2) He has divided the world. "We are all Americans now," headlined Le Monde on that Sept. 12. Now there are days when it seems as if they are all anti-Americans. “

Wrong. The world is not united or divided according to the whim of French opinion. The Presidency of the United States is not a popularity contest and the U.S. does not need to ask permission from the French and Germans, two nations who are vivid examples of appeasement and naked aggression respectively, if we may destroy a gathering threat to the United States.

”(3) He is leaving no child or grandchild without debt. He has taken the government from surplus into deficit in the name of national security and increased private investment. We can pay the debt in two ways: with more government revenues (taxation) or by borrowing -- against the sweat and income of new generations. The president has chosen to borrow. “

Wrong. It is the rare exception when the U.S. has not run a deficit. During the 90s artificial stock market “E-Boom” and control of Congress by Republicans we did not run a deficit. Then the market started to tank (while Clinton was in office) , the U.S. was attacked, the market tanked more, corporate scandals, and the market tanked more. The peace-time military in the 90s was under funded, not only did we have to increase funding for the military because of that neglect, we then had to fund it even more because of war.

”(4) He campaigns as a champion of smaller government, but is greatly increasing the size and role of government. Ideological conservatism, it turns out, costs just as much or more than ideological liberalism. Conservative and liberal politicians are both for increasing the reach and power of government. The difference between them is which parts and functions of the state are to be empowered and financed. The choice is between military measures and order, or more redistribution of income. Money is power. “

Redistribution of income? This is Socialism. As we stand now we are not yet a Socialist country. I agree that the President and both houses of Congress are not interested in restraining spending. For one reason – the Democrats proved all too well that they will destroy anyone who tries to cut spending or let the non-essetial Government operations shut down for a few weeks. One need only look back to the 1995 budget battle to see how the Republicans, who wanted to restrain runaway spending we crucified by Democrats and the press. The result – no politician wants to be portrayed as the big meanie who “cut” education, the environment, the military etc etc etc. See how it now works?

”(5) He is diminishing the military of which he is so proud now as commander in chief. The invasion and occupation of Iraq have obviously not worked out the way he imagined -- naked torture was not the goal. But the far greater problem for the future is that our proud commander has revealed the hollowness behind the unilateral superpower. From the top down, we have not been able to win Iraq, much less the world. And going into Iraq has compromised or crippled the war on terror he declared himself. “

Wrong on all accounts. This is utterly moronic and childish. It is totally ignorant of military doctrine and history. The result of the liberation of Iraq is “naked torture”? Get over it you assholes. Fraternity initiations are worse. The U.S. military HAS prevailed in Iraq and continues to fight terrorists, backed by Iran and Syria, inside Iraq. It’s time you idiots got this through your head.

It would have been very “easy” to win in Fallujah and Najaf by simply carpet bombing and then launching an all out assault. The military, left to it’s own devices would have quickly done the job. Politically though it was not possible, especially because Iraq now has sovereignty.

”(6) He is diminishing scientific progress, the great engine of the 20th century. Only the truly ignorant can believe that the proper role of government is to hinder medical research and environmental study in the name of God. “

Wrong. Stem cell research is not abolished or outlawed. His policy only is in regards to Government funding of the research, and, only certain kinds of stem cells. The fact is that stem cell research is ongoing with ALL stem cells in the private sector and is ongoing, with taxpayer money, on some stem cells

”(7) He is diminishing the Constitution of the United States. Cheesy tricks like amending the great text of freedom to attack homosexuality can be dismissed as wedge politics. But it is worse to preach against an activist judiciary while appointing more activist judges who happen to hold different beliefs, particularly the idea that civil liberties are the enemies of patriotism, security and freedom itself. “

Wrong. Although I disagree with a Constitutional Amendment to band gay marriage there are a few basic things you are missing. First, supporting the amendment does not equal “attacking homosexuality” which he has never done. Second this whole argument about the amendment is academic. NO ONE, who is serious, believes that this will ever be an amendment to the Constitution. So, he and other politicians (both for and against) can score political points by stating they are in favor of it or against it.

He is not appointing activist judges any more than other Presidents, they are judges YOU don’t agree with regarding how they interpret the law. What is reprehensible is that the Democrats in the Senate, who are a MINORITY (and they are a minority because that is how the people voted) are, through a procedural trick, blocking a vote, yea or nay, on judicial nominees, making it so that a nominee now needs 60 votes to be approved, not a simple majority which is prescribed by the Constitution.

”(8) He has surrounded himself with other incompetents. The secretary of state is presiding over the rape of diplomacy and its alliances. The secretary of defense has sent our young men and women into situations they were never meant or trained to handle, and now they are being ordered into battle by an appointed minister in a faraway land. The national security adviser does not seem to know that her job description includes coordinating defense and diplomacy. And then there was our $340,000-a-month local hire, Ahmed Chalabi, sitting in the gallery of our House. “

Wrong. Now this moronic article has just descended into juvenile hyperbole. Please, name for me the countries that we used to be allied with that we are now not allied with…??? Can’t name one, can you? Yet I can name two countries that we are now allied with that we were NOT allied with before – Iraq and Afghanistan. Diplomacy has been “raped” because France and Germany don’t agree with what we are doing?

The Secretary of Defense has overseen the men and women of the United States in three brilliant military campaigns that have vanquished large armies, liberated millions of the oppressed and killed and captured thousands of terrorists. These soldiers were trained for what they do and they have done their jobs well.

The rest of his “point” is just babbling as far as I can tell.

”(9) He has been unable or unwilling to deal with declining employment and the rising medical costs of becoming an older nation. “

Wrong. Tax cuts and other measures have stimulated the economy and the U.S. The 400 billion dollar Medicare law just passed not good enough for you?? Weren’t you just whining about deficits?

”(10) He is, as if by design, destroying the credibility of the United States as a force for peace in the world -- an honest broker -- particularly in the Middle East.’

Wrong. Peace comes through victory over tyranny not through “dialogue”.

Ok hamburgler, your's is gonna take some work...

He has pushed through this faith-based initiative bullshit and appointed FCC lackeys that have thoroughly chilled racy language on TV and Radio. Did anyone want him to do that crap? Only the small majority of religious fundamentalists. These are the worthless bones he has thrown them, even no one really wants. That's the quick way to argue to this point.

Also, Bush started a war with more opposition to it than any other that I can remember. Why do you think he had to make up so much bullshit to get it started?

Moronic and childish? Devoid of understanding? You are the one devoid of a sense of military history and understanding.

We "prevailed" in Iraq? How, by letting their Army blend back into society so they could ingnite a guerilla war? You don't think Saddam had been watching the Israeli invasion and occupation of Lebanon in the 80s? You think he didn't met with hezbollah to develope guerilla war tactics learned from years of fighting Israel? These people were pros at this and they executed it almost perfectly once we were on the ground. And the fucking morons running things in the Pentagon didn't have the sense to anticipate this!!??!??!? What the hell do we pay them for in the first place?

Obviously the Iranians were gonna fuck things up as bad as they could. And they have been and we can't do shit to stop them.

Rumsfeld told us that they would love us in Iraq. Our goal was to crush Saddam and take his shit. But we can't have it when the country is in shambles. It doesn't matter what nationality these 'terrorists' are, they are there and are doing a great job fucking things up.

This war is a failure in the overall standpoint. Sure we went in and blew the fuck out of everyone and now we have soldiers in place. That's not the end of a war. Check out Germany in 1946.

I guess you just believed W when he was on that carrier. But it's bullshit. The Mission is not Accomplished.

Ok, so getting implicated in authorizing sadistic physical and sexual torture of everyday people is all good? 'Cuase I think it's pretty fucking incompetent.

Alright... being the CEO of a company that is being sued by it's shareholders for accouting fraud is ok?

Fine, how about the Secrtary of State being caught with his pants down while talking to the UN and the world realizing that he was either lying or had worthless info? Anyone want to sign a treaty with us? You can trust us!!!

All incompetent. I won't even start on Rice, but really, shouldn't she have resigned on 9/12/01?

sorry about my formatting, but fuck it

Train, I'd sincerely like to see some facts to prove this. I'd much rather believe in France and German greed than American greed. I know they had interests w/ Saddam, just not that they were being greedy about the war.
