Rapper: Blacks 'cheered when 9-11 happened'

Rapper: Blacks 'cheered when 9-11 happened'

If Osama bin Laden ever buys a rap album, he'll probably start with a CD by KRS-One.

The hip-hop anarchist has declared his solidarity with al-Qaida by asserting that he and other African-Americans "cheered when 9-11 happened," reports the New York Daily News.

The rapper, real name Kris Parker, defiled the memory of those who died in the terrorist attacks as he spouted off at a recent New Yorker Festival panel discussion.

"I say that proudly," the Boogie Down Productions founder went on, insisting that, before the attack, security guards kept Blacks out of the World Trade Center "because of the way we talk and dress.

"So when the planes hit the building, we were like, 'Mmmm - justice.' "

The atrocity of 9-11 "doesn't affect us the hip-hop community," he said. "9-11 happened to them, not us," he added, explaining that by "them" he meant "the rich ... those who are oppressing us. RCA or BMG, Universal, the radio stations."

Parker also sneered at efforts by other rappers to get young people to vote.

"Voting in a corrupt society adds more corruption," he added. "America has to commit suicide if the world is to be a better place."

Last I checked, a lot of artists in the hip-hop community weren't exactly paupers. That and the majority of workers in the WTC were middle class from all over NYC, Jersey, and Conn., not mention people from other countries.

He doesn't have to stay here or sell his music here if he thinks it's so bad...

Not that I think this was the consensus, but there was some rap act that scrapped an album cover showing them blowing up the WTC. They had already finished the album before the attack, but was not released.

Good comment about workers in the WTC. I worked there for 3 years or so and there were tons of us who got paid crap. And just about anyone could get into the building back then, so that part is bullshit too.

This album was actually released before the staged 9-11 operation.

You're a state trooper JCOOK? haha

Man, I saw KRS-ONE live once and he seemed so idealistic and aware and good you know? Very talented. These are some shameful comments though. Screw him.

Exactly! The only part where you might be forbidden to go would be up to the offices, or at least after '93. I don't really remember all the security precautions before that cuz I was a lil thing and always with one of hte parentals.

But the mall and lobby -- anyone could go around there. Hell, there were/was trains there. How can you prevent them from going there when they could get thru by/need to get to the train station?

This guy is so pathetic. He had some good ideas, but like most wackos, he went off the rails. He believes his own hype about being a "prophet, a poet etc...

It's sad to hear him say that, as he is a rapper you almost want to respect.

I agree his career is over. This pathetic publicity attempt is gonna go off like a gatt to the face...

                    To bad, so sad.

Pre 93 they stopped very few from going up to the offices. Food delivery could get up there or anyone wth a suit; it had nothing to do with color. You couldn't get much farther without a card key after you got off the elevator. After 93 you needed ID to get in the office elevator banks, again nothing to do with color.

I remember that. Went to Dad's office randomly to help him on some stuff and during the beginning the one security guy would make me produce two photo ids and then sign the list and I couldn't do that unless my father was there with me and showing his card. After a while, they knew who I was and where I was going, so I only had to flash one and sign the book.

BTW, the Coup album was later reissued with a more appropriate cover......
