Now in comparision to the original routings they are much different, back then Charvel didn't make replacement bodies with a bridge pickup route which is why Eddie had to chisel out his own. I copied ever single flaw for this one and made a 1/2 MDF template out of it. You can get MDF ( Medium Density Fiberboard)at Home Depot...

Next I made a template off the original body, graphics were complimentary of my buddy Joe and supplied by Ash77.. Ash did all the Macwork in Photoshop and Illustrator to get the proportions correct and scale it up to the size of the bridge and quarter. Here's the template...Comment

Here's a quick peek at the body, its one piece as you can see by the picture, I overlayed it onto the original to make sure its perfect..Comment

Some cool stuff. I was in the market for a router to do some countertops. How do you like your Milwalkee? No! You can't have the keys to the wine cellar!Comment

I love it, its really stable and can handle the harder woods better than my porter and cable. The porter spins at 27,000 rpm which means the gear ratio is higher than the milwalkee at 24,000 rpm. Since the gear ratio is lower for milwalkee it gives it a bit more torque than the porter and cable. I also like the chuch better than the porter too, its made from hardened steel rather than cast metal. Sounds crazy but when you are truing out a neck pocket you don't want your bit slipping when it heats up from cutting.Comment

I always wondered what kind of ash Eddie's guitar was made from. I always assumed it was swamp ash. I have a 70's strat with an ash body and it sounds great! Light wieght too. For me, ash sounds better than alder.
The ignorance factor may have prevented some of you from whacking your tone control and at least having a good-sounding guitar. Playing well is another story, but so what if you are from Yew Nork, yew need to come up with confused pickups to make the folks BELIEVE in YOU, that YOU are Mr. Paint-the-whole-place with your noisy sprays.

Get a hardwood guitar to play hard rock, or get a looser guitar and put all those pickups in there with only ONE volume control. That whacks loud, but stupid, if you make a mistake. The major factor there is the removal of the tone control. Hey? Why do you guys have those?

Straat, that's alot of P-Shop effort but did you calculate the body rout image was, from the lense?
It doesn't look like it to me, if the whole cutout fits inside that rout.
Try this: put the body of a normal 3-single rout on the floor, and hold a yardstick to your eye with it dead-on @ 90* degrees to the body. Then, move your head inline with the centerline of the body, AND the yardstick, towards the neck until you see the same rout angle of the sides of the routs like you would see in the blown-up image.
Then hold the yardstick to a protractor to get the angle, and using an awl, scribe along the inside of your oversized rout hole and you'll have your final template image.
The current template is oversized from what I see because of the extra material downwards towards the body being removed. You see the inside angle of the bottom of the rout, plus the inside angle of the top corner of the rout (if you still follow me) and what it appears you did was remove that amount.Comment
