Hey Anybody ,
I'm confused First off I realize I'm 10 years out of the Loop,but

I have Winamp Media Player /Sonic Stage /Windows Media Player/
& Real Player all -updated- free downloads.

All this is pertaining to Audio/Video conversion of File types
Playing media audio/video.Computer Players Devices Programs(software).

I have some Real One Presentation Files Video. I want to convert to
Play in Winamp. I can change "file Opens With" still won't play in
winamp plays fine in Real.I can and do convert wav. to Mp3 other
things edit Video a little .........Got some concepts ?

I have DVX converter player programs/ Flac frontend/Interactual Player/
DVD shrink /.......All Kinda Fun stuff and I understand quiet a bit
but have no Friends who are into understanding Media Design
Dvd burning Video Editing all this fun Visual/Audio rigamarole?

Anyway heres the Deal and Question:You may have put in years
to learn what works what is necessary what isn't , thankyou for your
help upfront

(1). What is the Best Media Player Audio/ Video. Separate programs or
one that does both.
a,Free or do I need to put up money to get -The Good Stuff-

(2). Where is the Best place on the Internet I can go for help.
(Video Help.com is all I need for DVD got this in Favorites) I need Help for
my audio fixation.
(3). I realize this must be learned But a kick in the rite direction will
be appreciated

I think you have to have both...

BUT...

Real Player plus looks like a good thing, but it's way too expensive for my liking...

It will supposedly convert and play any file...

Thanks, I allready have a good version of Real Player 10
the Pro is 12.00$ a month (Damn!). I've been all over the Web updateing all
my Media stuff .

Winamp is my favorite and wish it would play -Real file -types but
it won't even sais so in the Info page at winamp.New info ididn't
know .Even if I buy th winamp pro 19.00$ one time fee it just
works faster but still wont Play Real files or VTS.

I guess i need a program to convert Real to Mp3 then I could play it
anywhere And I need a program to convert VTS video to something??
I can't Play my 83 us festival download so i'm all confused again.???

I just wish there was one player that converted files to any format
I needed and played all Media types and had a Burning and Decodeing
and Shrink All in one package .

Anybody, do have any info on a -Geek Audio Help Page- you know the Smart Guys who I made fun of in high school .?

I have 3 media players.

Windows Media Player 10
Quicktime Pro v7.0.3
RealplayerPlus v10

All for free.

That is pretty much all I need.

I do a lot of the home video,so I think I can help a little bit. The reason most people have trouble with video files is "codecs".
Codecs are like drivers,you need to update them every now and then.
Video help is a great site, they will usually answser any newb questions without any flaming.
The go-to site is called doom 9. This place has a ton of guides,and most if not all of the software you will need. All free for download.

video lan client (vlc)_FREE_ awesome play it all player.

bs_player_FREE_nice skinable player

winamp is still known as the go-to audio only player,but I do not use it.

real player includes spyware, I would not use it,or windows media player.

audio/video encoding___

winavi_$$$*_this will encode anything to anything,very fast,and easy to use

nero_$$$*_this will also encode, as well as being the best burning software.

tmpgenc_$$$*_another fine encoder.

ripping/copying___

anydvd_$$$*_will bypass all copy protection(audio/video)

clonecd_$$$*_will copy anything audio (needs anydvd)

clonedvd_$$$*same as above.

gspot_FREE_very useful info tool.

Try the MEDIA PLAYER classic...with all kinds of Codec packs...works very well.

i'm sticking with WMP 9 as long as i can. i don't like the DRM rules that future WMP's may have.

i've got Quicktime, not sure which one though.

i will never install another Real product on my machines.

Media player 11 upgrade from 10

about to put my other programs on this computer.

Hey you know this Media Center Box of big bucks has no
TV tuner. Dicks at HP!


I haven't been knee deep in this Bitch yet.

They recomend a External TV tuner ,any -Ideas- or -Recomendations- when it come to external tv tuners..???

Question 2: Any ideas on wether Napster is worth the money or This
