Don't go for that overpriced blue steel bullshit...

Generic nickel plated steel are the best for both guitar and bass...

I ran across some cheep bass strings a few years ago that sound fantastic, but I can't remember the name...

They have red thread on the ends and they are bright and stay bright...

Those stainless steel strings wear down frets at a faster rate than the softer nickel coated strings, and if you believe that re-aligning the molecular structure of a fucking string makes you sound better, you're a fucking dip-shit...

    Thought so...

    ~LMAO !!~

.09,s for electric,.12,s for acoustic, and, for Spanish guitar I use Hannabach blue high tension. To do what I want,I need .09,s for electric.I cant do the same things with heavier gauge strings. For me,.12,s are good for acoustic, because, the difference in tone is not so much better if you go heavy, however, the playability is much worse. For lighter strings, you lose a lot of tone without so much benefit of playability.I speak only of my guitar.I think if your guitar is set up right, and, you have average strength in your hands,.12,s should be no problem. As far as Spanish guitar, its simply what I have found to be the best choice as far as what I have found. They are reasonably priced, and, last much longer, with better tone than so-called "high quality"brand names.

They're actually pretty good strings. I've used them, and used to break them alot when I first started. Now I havn't broken a single one for about 4 or 5 months. And my hands SWEAT ALOT when I play under pressure (which is often.) So these strings really do hold up.

I've always played D'Addario XL120's which are nines. A little light but don't break hella. Then again, I'm no shredder. lol

The strings have always been perfect for my style of playin'.

Nickel wound is the way to go unless you are allergic to nickel. I like .009-.042 guage and have found adjusting the pickup hieght and the guitar setup has a lot to do with getting a large sound out of small guage strings. You still can get huge sounding power chords with 9's

I've tried Ernie Ball, D'Addario, Fender, Gibson, SIT, GHS Boomers and in the nickel wound, they are all good. I like Fender bullets for a regular Strat bridge but lately I've just been ordering Musicians Friend bulk strings. To be honest, I think they are Gibson strings in bulk but it really doesn't matter how much the .009 breaks if you have a whole bunch of them.

Breaking strings really depends on the guitar. My 70's Strat and Epiphone SG have strings last a very long time before one breaks. Often it's the .042 that breaks first on these guitars. The Floyd Rose on my Wolfgang is ok on strings but they break more. My Les Paul eats strings like crazy. I might have to take a needle file to the saddles and smooth it off some.

Really, string breakage is relative to the guitar.

Some string resellers have their strings made by the same manufacturer. I always get a kick out of people who say A brand kicks ass over B brand but the truth is they are the same strings manufactured by GHS. They are the same damn string. Brand loyalty has some strange mojo to it.

One player who funny about strings is Allision Robertson of the Donnas. She gets a great sound and she uses zero peddles except for maybe a Boss tuner peddle. She claimed Gibson Ace Frehley strings have a lot to do with her sound and she wasn't happy unless she had those on her guitar. She told me she was horribly alergic to nickel and showed me her fingertips to prove it. That girl breaks out everytime she plays and she makes her living playing. Man, she is constantly putting cortozone cream on her fingers.

Now she endorses D'Addario strings. Go figure. But when I talked to her in Santa Cruz, man it had to be Ace Frehley strings. Man, that was a girl who gave me naughty fantasies until I met her. She's nice but has zero personality and seems really shy and dumb. I thought I was talking to some dumb 15 year old instead of a women in her mid 20's.
