    guitar strings

    Hey all,
i'm still a beginner guitarist, one of my many problems I have is the guitar buzzing on chords. I think I have my fingers pressed hard enough. I noticed last time I strung my guitar that they make thinner strings do they help reduce that buzzing sound?

What guitar do you have? When, if ever was it set up last?

        Just the first few questions!

Buzzing sounds like a truss-rod adjustment is needed, if it's tuned correctly. Take your guitar to a reputable guitar shop and have them adjust it and set it up correctly. Should only cost you less than $30 as long as no repairs are needed.

...I'd check the height adjustment on the bridge saddle(s) well before mucking about with the truss rod...

Yea check the action and if its set to low you will get buzz and all you may need to do is set your action a little higher .

Well yeah check the bridge adjustment... truss rod... maybe check for fret sprout or nut gout...

The point is the guy says he's a beginner guitar player. Didn't say if he's playing an electric, acoustic or a piece if wire nailed to a board... ala Robert Johnson.

I would advise either taking it to a shop or someone who can check/adjust it properly. Most the technical info is available via the net... but he'd be better off paying a pro or having an old timer showing him the ropes.

We all had to start somewhere... best to start em down a good path with this stuff.
