I'm getting soooo confused though regarding what's Fender's actual spec for Lake Placid Blue though cos my blue one was supposedly LPB? Yet when I put it side by side with my buddy's brand new LPB Strat, mine's more greenish? It's weird?

Yeah, I could tell it's a Jap Strat by the body shape, believe it or not...

As far as the color, the original Lake Placid Blue and most all original fender metallics were clear coated with nitrocellulose lacquer that turns yellow over time which could explain the greenish color on yours...


But yes, mij is Made In Japan...

Ahhhhhh Haaaaah!!! That makes perfect sense and thank you. I've recently looked at old pics when I first bought the Strat and the finish is A LOT darker.

I do have another question though. How come my '83 Candy Apple Red hasn't suffered the same fate?

Hey Elvis,

Here's a pic of my red one next to my buddy's new lpb strat with the black pickguard if it helps?

He's now put ALL chrome on it i.e. knobs, pickguard, pickup covers and switch and it looks awesome!!!
