Fooling around with my new toy, Behringer Audio Interface.

Well, fooling around for a few days now. I´m trying to find a decent tone using audacity to record the stuff and free plugins for sound and effects. So far, the overdrives were terrible, so I´m using my old Korg AX300G for that.

Help me out guys, what should I do, refine, change, any tips welcome.

Here´s SG copy balanced on my knees -> Korg AX300G -> Interface -> Audacity + various plugins.

Audacity's cool, but if you want to have some really cool things to mess around with, at least try to borrow a Mac and fool around with Garageband... it might be neat to add drums and such.

But, I love that MP3. Good work

      Thanks!

Do you know of any cool overdrive plugins I can use with audacity?

I´m also not really happy with the compresor I´ve got.

A mac would be nice, but sadly nowhere in sight!

I do have Acoustica Beatcraft here. I´ll post a clip when I´ve found the time to fool around with all of the stuff together.

Hope I´m getting better at tweaking in a decent lead sound!

Heck, just get a good amp and mic it. No substitute for that.

                  Gotta love my fucking countrymen!

I asked the same question on a German guitar forum and 80% of the fuckers have nothing to contribute but to rip my playing!

So, thumbs up to you guys for being able to tell the difference between "help me with my tone" and "help me with my playing"!

BTW, the few who had something to contribute found the tone to be a bit too bassy while missing some low mids. Plus they found the overdrive to sound a bit fizzy on the higher notes and too artificial. Do you agree?

I just wanna, first of all, see if you like what I have come up with, because if not, it's a waste of time...

But I think you'll be pleasantly suprised...

I'm shopping for a new computer, but money is tight in between the dentist and building guitars...:D

But that's why I haven't been posting any licks, as some of us have been talking about...

My hard drive on this PC I built three years ago is completely full of CRAP and it's old...

                      LMAO!

I know what you´re talking about. I could only start the recording game cos our bassist has 2 rather new laptops (and NO fucking bass amp!! ) and let me have the older one till he needs it back.

I´m trying to get a decent tone without spending a lot of cash on saftware or other gadgets. It wouldn´t be worth it, since I could, if all else fails, always grab a couple of mics from our rehearsal room and mic my Peavey Classic 30.

I´ll PM you my email address.

No offense but I find Germans at least the former West German variety to be too anal about everything. Statistics and documents are all they seem to care about. The East Germans seem to be a little more human so to speak but of course they can't stand the West Germans for the same reason. LOL!

I don't know, Germany is in dire need of blowjob in some areas.

Oh God, don't mention Peavey to Americans. The company makes almost everything in either Mississippii or Alabama. Hires American workers. Sells most of it's goods outside of the US making it one of the few US companies that run a trade surplus. The company was founded by a self-made entreprenuer who is a pretty nice fellow if you ever get a chance to meet him. That being said. Americans hate Peavey and you can just smell the anger as soon as it's mentioned. For a real coniption fit, put Peavey and 5150 together. LOL!

That´s why I´m happy to be living in Cologne, the least "typical" German city.

I can´t agree with the East German bit though. They´re usually a whiny bunch who think the world owes them something for the fact that East Germany was behind the Iron Curtain for so long!
