Refurb of old guitar - Time to paint!

Alright....... So I stripped all the metallic red off my Ibanez Blazer guitar. I'm now ready to paint this thing white. Should I fine sand it with high grit paper after every layer or just after the last layer of paint and the last layer of lacquer?

What type of polishing compounds do you all use?

are you down to bare wood? you are going to have to level it so the grain doesn't show through. you should have just busted the sheen of the clear coat and painted over it, that would have left a super level surface. start with sand sealer. then bring out the sand paper. you can check out the grits in the post of me making my frankie

You could steel wool before the final clear coat.

Make it a smooth as silk yet leave some tooth for the clear to bond.

What really matters is your paint consistency and your ability to paint.

New filtered paint every coat and clean brush.

If you are spraying a bunch of thin coats is better than three thick ones.

I did a chair like this and it looks cool as all get out..

My current refurb is almost at the finish stage...I still want to get the Floyd recessed before painting it...

Trying to figure out how I'm gonna match a Chevy automotive lacquer color from the late 80s/early 90s...:p

You must have inhaled a LOT of paint fumes, too.
