      I don't see how removing the pickguard did it...

      The screw holding the bracket is below the binding on the side...

      Perhaps it came that way and you just discovered it...

        ive thought about it and decided im keeping it. if i were to return it i would need the original packaging which is long gone. thus causing a 15 percent restocking fee which in this case would be 194 i think. if anything i can get it fixed by some guitar painting guy but it doesnt really bug me. in the future i plan on turning it into a natural look so w.e.
