    The Dimarzio Virtual Vintage '54 is great as far as low output, (nearly)classic-sounding yet noiseless operation, as is the Duncan Classic Stack. I still have an HS-3 around here in the pickup box, too..

      The cool thing about the HS3 is that Dimarzio was just trying to make a good sounding Strat pickup that didn't hum and stumbled on the beautiful sounding HS3...

      To me, it's similar to the original Gibson PAF...nothing fancy, no thousand dollar botique design with all kinds of R&D, just plain old great sounding pups...

        THe HS# is a excellent pickup...the YJM is a MONSTER....
