i have a J-Station (Wooda ranted about 'em and i got one cheap on Ebay) but i can't do the fast meedley meedley stuff. i never had the patience to learn to shred.

as Mark Knopfler says, runnin' strictly rhythm...and a little bass.

That's what I'm using. Sounds great with guitars or bass. We have used it with vocals too. I use it with a Carvin DCM 1000 power amp if I'm pushing cabs. Sometimes the DCM is used as part of the PA or monitoring system and I direct out to that. I get lot's of compliments on my sound too.

The PSA1.1 is really a do everything preamp. You want blazing high gain it can do it. You want an old Fender tone, it can do it. You want good slap and pop bass tone. It can do it or go more rehtro. You want clean boost with no colorization it can do that too. Plus, it's quiet. It's so versatile I used hardly any peddles and the main thing on the floor is the MIDI switcher to run through my presets. I love the thing.

Another cool thing about the PSA1.1 is it works well with any guitar I plug into it. Some amps just sound like shit with single coils and a Strat just sings through the thing. High gain humbuckers or vintage humbuckers work well too. When I switch guitars I just go to the appropriate setting and bingo. Plus, it uses knobs like a real amp. None of that menu and mode shit.

I still think it's cool as long it's within the context of a song and not the other around...

Hey you know what I reckon they should put on
these digital modellers (like the pods) a CAT5 (RJ45)
and mixed audio output... Idea being you plug it into
your router, send someone the IP of your POD
and the audio outputted is a mix of the other
networked pods.. Jam sessions via the web
                          and your favorite modeller.

Shall we patent it ?? lol...

There's actually a ton of programs out there that let you jam online......I can't find the one I used a few years ago. It was ok but this one might even be better. In a few months I am going to try this out. Then we could have jam sessions.
A startup called eJamming claims to have solved some of the problems that have plagued musicians who jam together online. According to the company, its software, called eJamming AUDiiO, is able to let musicians collaborate in near real time with musicians halfway across the world. Additionally, the software simultaneously records each musician, combines and synchronizes his or her input, and creates files with CD-quality tracks, says Alan Glueckman, president and chairman of eJamming.

Me too but what I'm trying to do is get rid of the pointless solo.

To me the pointless solo is the one that adds nothing. It can be fast or not. In fact a lot of the really pointless ones are those that aren't widdly but done by session people on non rock albums where they are completely sensible and perfectly played but just totally uninteresting.

I'm thinking in a world of a million bedroom guitarists and all those people that didn't effectively take a 10 year vacation like myself then my best option is to try and come up with interesting notes.

I'm still drawn to the Vito Bratta stuff. I've never worked out anything he did but I see it as the gold standard.

If the devil offered me a deal whereby I could instantly play that solo perfectly but had to wear that shirt for the day I think I would have to have turned him down.

I scaled back my gear awhile ago and switched to a PODXT running through an old Marshall power amp. It works fine, but to tell you the truth I'm bored with it (to my ear it's lacking in warmth) and I'm looking at switching back a valve amp.

I'm not 100% sure what to go for at the minute (so any suggestions are welcome).
