Fuck, Recabinet is awesome, eh?!
The combination of the 57 and a Royer 121 is unbeatable!
And the Audix D6 is perfect for the low end.
Glad you like.
I love that set-up. That's my favorite combo. I didn't put the D6 on the JCM800 because those were just supporting chordal volume-swells with an echoplex-mod thrown on top...I wanted the right-hand chunk coming from the Soldano mod I was playing the main rhythm with..

Been getting into the Echoplex lately. Love the way the sound degenerates and loses pitch during the repeats ...
Yeah, even the emulation on the DL-4 cops that aspect of it pretty well...want a real one for the collection someday. Funny thing is I decided to do that at like 9PM, wanted to post it before midnight for the anni (on Soundclick and a couple of other places at least prior to here), got it done, doubled and tripled, bounce to MP3 and posted by 11:30...getting faster w/Pro Tools, and these days I already know which cab emulations I like best...

I have a few days off for the holiday, so did some tracking with the Mesa-Boogie today...was able to get down a fairly quiet (nothing a subtle gate didn't cure) and HUGE sounding rhythm track. I totally love the fact with Recabinet I'm basically using my live setup to track, not just my amp - and can drop in effects from my pedal board at will. Pretty f*ing cool. Haven't even thrown on doubles with the 57 and D6 mics yet (just the 121 so far), and it already kinda sounds like I have...will likely be massive when done!
IWYB outro tease - Punk-to-trippy outro of new tune 'I Want You Back (but why bother)' #rock #shred
(...it's just the guitar tracks...played this for Lounge earlier, he said it sounded like "Dick Dale on Smoking Loon"...which I like!)
I get sort of used to recording with amp emulations just because it's so easy to do (and passable sounding), but then you record a real amp track and it's just like HELLO! Soooo much fatter and realistic (because it IS, duh) sounding. Still no contest whatsoever! I recorded a track with my humbucker-equipped Koa Super-Strat on the Lead channel today to augment a track I'd already done with my Purple (stacked) single-coil equipped Strat (and my go-to JCM800 mod), but now I'm wondering if I should re-record the Purple Strat track with the Boogie on the dirty rhythm channel...
Yeah, a subtle gate and a bit of limiting on the amp track...plus a standard-preset EQ on the Boogie track, which was done with the Koa Strat with the Duncan CC, and the track with the Purple Strat and a JCM800 mod. Glad you like!
Uh, yeah, ELVIS...the "analog tape drop out" you're referring to is a FLANGER on the Boogie track.

Actually the tone of the first unaccompanied gtr is reminiscent of The Zoo by the Scorpions. I think what Gerg is missing here is that this is an outro and the fact that the end result (of the tune) will have bass and drums in the mix. In my opinion it will blend nice and give the track some width on the fade-out... ( Just my 2 cents...)
I used headphones to mix it because my monitors are on the bright side, actually. You're entitled to your opinion, though I disagree. But FYI I intentionally mixed the effected track loud, that's what I'm shooting for - I want the Flange to be drastic, sorry. And I imagine the entire track will be further gated when it's finished and mixed, so doubting the slight remaining noise will be an issue...

That'll be taken care of later, haven't even doubled those tracks with the 57 and D6 emulations yet...and like I said, I'm now tempted to drop another single-coil track on there with the amp. Funny, no matter how good amp emulations get, side-by-side with direct amp tracks using the same speaker emulations it's night and day...
