No, YOU'RE the fucking idiot. I've NEVER seen sheetrock nailed EVER in new (or remodeled) houses on the east coast. I couldn't tell you if it was code or not, but that's the way it's done here...

If I do sheetrock I usually start with a dozen nails tacking the center, to the edges, then go outward legthwise before stitching in the screws one every two or three feet.

That's how I was taught in my teens, I don't know if that's code or not but I believe using more screws than that is a waste, myself.

I would think the waste would be bringing and alternating using TWO guns and fasteners than just screwing it. But then again, why wouldn't you know about being a waste?
