Having said that, and having wound many pickups and spent hundreds of hours fucking with coils, magnets, plates, screws and slugs to figure which factor affects sound and how to tweak it you may be lead to believe my current configuration is a really really fussed over configuration?

It's not. SH1N in the neck, and a Tom Holmes-era Gibson PAF reissue 1981 in the bridge. Same setup I've had since about 1984. Why fuck with what worked really well all these years..

Having said that Jay, in all honesty, I wish I'd just focused on playing guitar more than playing with the guts. Cuz when you're old and you realize you could have had a larger back-catalogue if you'd been more focused, the thought moves you into regrets and thats no way to be if you have time and capacity to do things differently.

Magnets should be on nobody's "dream gear list" while living in that hovel where you stay.

Yes, GAyR - I'm spending a little of what would have been vacation fun-money to play with my gear at a charity gig I was invited to do. I could spend it on boozing with friends I haven't seen in years - gonna be there anyway, but figured spending it on a worthy cause - to do the gig right, instead of just play through whatevs again - might be cool too. Plus now my old friends get to hear my rig (cabs provided by the sound company) and the event is BYOB anyway... I mean, who wouldn't - besides GARfail ?


Oh, and the pickup picture I used above was only supposed to be for reference, but turns out a low bid I put in won the auction...let there be C8s...GARfuckle be damned
