Everyone knows when you find a 1971 quarter you are obligated to build a Frankenstrat. But what do you do when you find two of them? Hmmm, you go balls deep for some tone!
A few weeks ago I got change at the hardware store. I always look at the dates on the quarters, old habit. I got a '71. A couple days later I'm out and about and get change somewhere and low and behold another '71 quarter. This is a sign! I've been wanting to get a Marshall 1959slp RI for sometime now and have it modded. I was talking with David Bray last year but couldn't pull the trigger. I had been hanging out at the metroamp forums too watching those guys dial in their plexis for the most brown tone I've ever heard. One guy imparticular Mark. He started calling his the Mod 5. By all signs it is the most CVH out there, more so than Cameron, Jose, Fortin, Metro and Friedman. So I do my do dilligence and have finally after much research pulled the trigger. He has started his own business called Rockstah Amps.
I found a 2004 Marshall 1959slp for a good deal and sent it off to Mark. He has gotten it done and is shipping it back to me today. Here is a little clip of my amp in action. What do you think??
