I think what the majority is saying is that the brand of guitar doesn't make much difference.
If you want an Eddie tone then the Wolfgang could be a starting point.
Any alder body with a Gibson PAF pickup and a Floyd would get you there.
But the amp is as important as the guitar as well.
Alright thanks, you all have been very helpul. The amp i have is a peavey transtube 212 II special. Since he used that guitar in the late van hagar years and on VH 3 that is definately a sound i want to tay away from. but heres a link to the amo i have
Just buy a decent guitar with a floyd and good p/up (this could be a wolfgang, yeah). I can't imagine that you've already got the skills to slap an axe together.
Thats awesome that you build guitars man, and i know its more than putting pieces together, i was just saying it in simple words, but its been hard to determine if the wolfgang can get the sound
To get ed's sound is more than just ripping off his licks. Ed has a very unstructered and loose playing style. But don't think just because he plays loose that he is not very precise at what he does. Like someone said, Ed sounds like Ed on any guitar he plays. Really any guitar with a paf pickup and a tubed marshall head cranked to 10 will give you the classic sound you are looking for. So i would invest in a marshall head and go from thare.
