OMG, 1980. Days of general admission, and I was front and centre. Dave saw me light a joint and put his hand out. I passed it to him, it got passed around to Ed and Mike, back to Dave, then back to me.

I had so much interaction between Ed and Dave that night I remember wondering where the hell did all these people come from when it ended. I could have sworn I was the only person in the audience that night.

They had cameras there that night too...THAT's the one I really want to see released from the vault!!!

Dave did the "joint" thing at every show on the 80 Invasion tour. I took these two pictures at the Salina Bicentennial Center in Salina, Kansas on August 24, 1980.

I have no way of knowing whether or not it is true, but I have been told by a former employee, that those cameras rarely had film in them. It was all for crowd reaction, and affect.

Holy Mother Of God...

I have been quite critical of Dave this tour vocally... not happy with his weird nasally thing, singing songs out of register, off key, taking extreme liberties with the classic melodies, etc...

That being said, to me, this performance should be played for him OVER AND OVER...
What a FUCKING MONSTROUS KILLER VERSION the Diamond One pulled off here... the whole band just kicked the holy fuck out of this tune... OLD SCHOOL CVH swagger and attitude...

And the SCREAM Dave hit at 1:29... the fucking SCREAM!!! (Also one at the end coming out of the breakdown)...

I have felt there was a physical vocal issue with Dave since first seeing the Cafe Wha? gig... he changed to dramatically from the stellar '07/'08 vocal performances... as a singer I felt horrible for him because it's not like if your guitar goes out of tune you can grab another from a tech...

But this video gives me hope that maybe whatever was ailing him is getting taken care of... he had a strong mid range and just a kick ass attitude... LISTEN to the way he sings the last chorus... growl in the vocals and holding that strong note...

Enjoyed that video very much!!!

Was it just me or were there times when you looked up at the screen and Dave was looking down into the camera that he was talking directly to you, looking right into your eyes (or even soul maybe?) That's part of the magic of Dave, the way he connects with you IF you let him.

Thank you for the kick ass vids. Hope to see Jump with the final bow. I'm gonna miss these guys until they start back up again. Guaranteed I'm hitting up a couple of shows on the next leg. Crossing fingers for their first visit back to Eastern Canada since Fair Warning.

Another awesome video Almostsaved! You can see Dave sucking on lemons and gargling with something while Eddie's playing the intro. Saw it in another one of these videos too. I think Dave sounded great on this song. When they played this at one of my shows (MSG maybe) Dave barely got any of the words. He's clearly been working at it.

Almost saved these videos are great ... Well done man .. You caught Dave on a hot night ... He knocks that ball out of the park vocal wise ... And he had attitude to spare.
