"Van Halen was one of the most hallelujah, tailgate, backyard, BBQ, arrive four hours early to the gig just for the parking lot bands. And still to this day is. It's an attitude. I think it's a spirit more than anything else is."Comment

I have 7 or 8 clips that I can get up...rather random...rather here or there...
Realize that I hadn't seen a clip...or a bit from this show since the LA Forum...so I was more focused on enjoying the show...and not filming the fucking thing without hopping up and down like a fucking 10-year old girl...
When they played Women in Love and Oughta Love Again...I nearly fucking had a coronary...so sorry about that.
Va and I are about to roll the fuck outta here, but I'll be home by 10, if not earlier, and I'll start uploading thereafter, throughout the day..."Van Halen was one of the most hallelujah, tailgate, backyard, BBQ, arrive four hours early to the gig just for the parking lot bands. Pojo, glad you dug the show. Very impressed by your self-imposed abstinence!!
I'm bummed I couldn't make it up this time; but from the sounds of it, you got a great show just like we did in Atlanta on Thursday. The boys seem to be rounding into fine form!!David Lee Roth's the greatest motherfucker who ever lived!

I know you're new to the Army, but Pojo is the King of the Fuckin' Castle around these parts. A dude so committed to the VH experience that he put himself on exile for two months. He's a mushroom cloud layin' mother fucker, mother fucker!!
No disrespect, no matter how slight or unintentional, will be tolerated......
..........................
much love, DGT...David Lee Roth's the greatest motherfucker who ever lived!

Well...I have seen Dave perform numerous times over the years....countless...
With Van Halen, this was my fourth official Van Halen show, with Dave, and first on this tour. What I can tell you is that I've never heard the band sound this good. The shows in 2007 & 2008 were outstanding, but for me...the spectacle of those shows were just watching the interaction between Eddie and Dave...and watching Wolfie struggle to find his footing as a teenager in the Mighty Van Halen...
Listen, those shows were outstanding...those shows were fucking amazing...but they were a bit off. There were moments where Dave was trying too hard to be back...and Wolfie was trying too hard to be Michael Anthony...and Eddie was trying too hard to stay sober, and to fight off cancer (funny that alex actually was the consistent one)...
In 1984, the spectacle was the spectacle. That show was BIG...and IT WAS VAN FUCKING HALEN!!!!! For a 13-year old kid who had picked up the guitar three years earlier because of the guy standing in front of me...and who had switched allegiances to the guy with swag standing next to him with his Kung Fu solo because of a slew of keyboards from the aforementioned guitarist...that show was more about that VH Swag, and less about the speed...and noise...and ferocity with which they played.
Enter last night. For many reasons, I haven't been online at the Army once in over two months. While I normally go into "blackout" mode prior to a show to make it feel a bit "new," there were actually other reasons for it all, so suffice it to say that my mind has been elsewhere (you'll appreciate that one Va... ), I haven't thought much about Van Halen...music...or any of that shit...
So I didn't know about the blowers...and while I knew about the headset from the LA FORUM show, I didn't much give a shit about that either (and probably wouldn't have had I been around...truth be told)...
I went into this blind...no reviews...no views...no set-list knowledge (other than a sensible taste in the history of songs that WOULD be on the set list)...just me...a few Army friends...and nearly 30 years of waiting for a new album...
How's that for setting the tone for another Fucking POJO...DOJO...you ain't gonna know...til it hits you slow...2012 review of the MIGHTY VAN HALEN!!!!
And folks...what a fucking show it was.
Now those of you that know me, realize that my reviews fucking marinate, like fine fucking wine...they have to ferment to become the animals in which they become...
Of course...like Eddie, this was my first show since 1984 that I was sober...or at least relatively sober, by many standards...so at some point today...it will begin.
In the meantime, I'm uploading my vids...so I'll wait for those to be ready...and then start. Not sure when (because damn it...I actually have real life to do today...damn it), but soon my brothers and sisters...fucking soon...
To Carmine and his wife...to SparkieD and her man, to the fucking redneck fairwrning (love ya brutha), to that old bastard Va Beach (we lived through another one, although you gotta realize that at some point, we won't), and to fuckin' A Lou. Here's to you Lou. You and I haven't seen eye to eye in the past on some stuff here and there, but it was damn good to meet you last night. And seriously, you guys are seriously rooted in VH...as Lou rolls out to his seventh show, and Carmine makes the seven-day trek from somewhere north of hell...hats off...and damn good to meet you.
Rumors of a major meet up have surfaced for a show come July 28th...where many will be showing up in my hometown for what will likely be an epic encounter...including that rat bastard from Michigan...Von. You VonPa...how is it that you go to fucking Buffalo...and ignore me you ignorant son-of-a-bitch...
I'm already planning for fucking Cleveland on the 28th...and that may be my boy's first VH show....talk about being stoked...life couldn't be better..."Van Halen was one of the most hallelujah, tailgate, backyard, BBQ, arrive four hours early to the gig just for the parking lot bands. And still to this day is. It's an attitude. I think it's a spirit more than anything else is."Comment

You echoed my exact sentiments on the 2007-08 tour. I was just fucking balls-deep ballistic I was actually seeing Dave and Eddie onstage together again. They could've played like shit (they didnt) and I wouldnt care. Those 2 fellas are what rock 'n roll is all about since I was 12 yrs. old ---- and I honestly thought I was never gonna see them share a stage ever again. But yeah, it was obvious that Wolfie was a little too young and inexperienced to be up there. Luckily, Eddie was in pretty good shape when I saw him at the Pittsburgh show in April 2008.
But on this tour ---- FUCK ALL THAT SENTIMENTAL SHIT ---- they are the Mighty Halen once again. Playing like killers on the hunt for blood. They dont wanna hear about it later!
Let's make the Cleveland meetup even bigger than Greensboro ---- 50+ RA members ---- who's in ??
