I don't know what the fuck that guy was talking about - obviously wasn't at the same show I was at! I don't have too much time to write a long review, since I have some making up to do at home in terms of child care, after being gone all day yesterday! Here are a couple of points.
1. All of the shows I saw were different for me and stood out in some way. The first MSG show blew me away cause I was in the 4th row and cause it was the first for me. The second blew me away cause they were on fire that night, cause Dave had major bad-ass attitude (in a good way) and cause they sang Full Bug for the first time. Mohegan was sad for me cause it ended my week, but it was awesome cause we had the sound check and cause Dave was more hysterical to me that night than the others - was cracking me up the whole time. Last night was a whole different experience cause I was alone during the show, and was really taking it all in. I felt like Dave's performance, both physically (jumps, splits, etc.) and vocally (including remembering lyrics) was better than the others I had seen. The whole band sounded amazing. The intro to Outta Love blew me away, and I forgot for a minute that I had already seen that song live - it was amazing.
2. I felt like there was less banter between Dave and the crowd last night - even in parts where it's expected, like EWS, panama, and DTNA. Each time I expected him to say something funny or different, I turned on my video ready to catch it, and there was just the "compulsory" elements. Didn't take away from the show for me - was really more of something I reflected upon after the show.
3. The crowd at this show was great. Maybe it was the section I was in or the fact that I was alone, but everywhere I looked, there were fans going nuts. I don't mean just singing along, I mean going nuts! Air guitar, jumping up and down, grooving with eyes closed, men screaming like little girls! For me it was awesome - at least I wasn't the only lunatic there, and I didn't feel retarded going nuts next to strangers, cause they were going nuts too.
4. Meeting all of the Roth Army guys and girls was great for me. Being that I am still a newbie, I've only had the chance to meet up once at Mohegan, which was great, but brief cause I had VIP then and had to run. Actually having time to chat with people was fun and really made me feel like a part of the group here - didn't feel alone at the show at all. Was able to say hi to people during the break and wave to familiar faces after the show. Truly enjoyed spending time with everyone there.
5. Sorry - just has to be said - I saw Dave's ass live!!
Overall I'm extremely grateful that I got to get to this one, and it really just felt like an unexpected bonus for me on this tour. Looks like I'm done for real this time, but I'm ok with it. No depression like I had last time my week was over. Just happy we all have our boys back and really glad to be a part of this crowd! Time to pass the play-by-play torch on to some other folks!
.....unless they come back to NY on a second leg.....then I'll happily accept it back
