Rumors/ New eddie Van Halen Interview

    Recorded Friday January 9, 2004
So.. we usually don't comment on rumors.. especially ones that involve a certain Bette Midler impersonator. Well the rumor mill goes is to expect a Van Hagar Reunion. Here is a recap of the Dwyer and Michaels Q106.5 Davenport, Iowa Morning interview.
    1. That he has not spoke to Michael Anthony in 2 years.
    2. He says he has 10 albums worth of material written.
    3. Eddie refers to his son Wolfie "This Cat Is Sexy" Whats up with that? And spends 1/2 the interview praising him.
    4. Acts really surprized that the DJ's called.. even though this had to have been scheduled.
    5. Says he has heard about the rumors and won't comment on them. "Yes it is true there are rumors"
    6. Says that he will play live again and new matierial will come "More Sooner.. than later"
EVH sounds tired in this interview.. partially because it was in the morning. Some of his comments are rather funny.

My thoughts.. these guys are so unpredictable.
I will say this. I will not accept any other singer in Van Halen but David Lee Roth. If Sammy Hagar does rejoin.. it will unleash a shitstorm of protest from about 85% of the current fans. There just isn't too many people that aren't "Too Close To Mommy" that would rather see anyone else but Dave fronting that band.
To quote DLR.."Going from me to you is like going from speedballs to milkshakes Sam"

EVH has his motives for doing this interview.. otherwise why would we hear from this guy after he has been living under a rock for the past 5 years? This is the 2nd interview in as many months!!
You have to wonder what is going on and I don't think anyone knows ... including people in the band

    Ok here is the interview:

Loved the Interview but thought that Eddie was just making up everything on the spot. Did you hear that similar interview a few months back? Similar set-up ie he was in the studio when they rang, but Ed was basically dissing all the people that call him selfish and says that he's gotta come first etc and that he never goes on the net or anything cos he works all the time. Got the immpression that he knows about some of the insults going around about him not keeping the fans happy or updated and he didn't really seem to care.

Oh well, I don't suppose I'd care much either if I was a Millionaire Rock Guitarist with all the time in the world to make music in my own recording studio.........

And I don't care much for the "If it wasn't for the fans you wouldn't even be famous" argument cos we bought his albums because he is an amazing guitarist and the band were the best thing since Led Zeppelin. He doesn't owe us anything.
"Whooose that babe with the fabulous shadow?"

        Are you guys stoned?

85% of VH fans would rather have DLR back? Where did you hear this bullshit? DLR's voice is totally shot - he proved that on the recent tour with Hagar. You guys must be living in a fantasy world.

Face it - Hagar is on top of his game, and DLR is not. DLR's ego is way too overblown, and he can't remember half the words to the songs he sings. It was the same case when I saw VH in the mid-80s in Saint Louis when they stopped the show after six songs because DLR was too wasted to sing.

Wake up and smell the coffee boys. VH will return - but it will be with the Almighty Red Rocker himself as the frontman - and they will be rockin'!!!

        Yeah baby!!!

P.S. - If you are not scared of the truth you will not delete this post. However, I have my doubts.

We don't come here for the truth. We come here because we look back fondly on early Van Halen and (some) of DLR's solo stuff. We all know that DLR's voice is shot, but I'd still pass up a chance at screwing your sister to go to see him live. He's a showman. Notwithstanding any Van Halen arguments - Sammy Hagar is a cocksmoker. He sucked when he was solo, and he sucked just the same with Van Halen. 10 years from now you won't hear one Van Hagar song on the radio, but you'll still hear You really got me , or Jamie's cryin'. Why you ask? Because Diamond Dave gave the music personality and charisma. That's what endures over time! So, go put on you red leather pants ( if they still fit ) and 4 or 5 bandannas and play air guitar to Red Rocker albums. You deserve each other.

Ok buddy i just saw him on a more recent tour of '03 June 27 and his voice was awesome. Even my buddy who was with me and is not even really into rock said it was the best show he has EVER seen. He also said he sounded better than the albums that we listened to all the way from a week before the show. Some of the crew didn't like it cuz of there rap style but thats alright. For someone who doesn't know much about Van Halen to say that proves how wrong you are about Daves voice bein' shot. Besides the fact that Dave actually puts on a show and gets EVERYBODY into it like no other frontman besides Freddy Mercury could do. Sammy just can't do it like Dave. His voice may be there still more so than Dave's screams but Dave can still do the tunes wicked coo man.

"Face it - Hagar is on top of his game, and DLR is not. DLR's ego is way too overblown, and he can't remember half the words to the songs he sings. Uhm...yeah...Like i said i just saw him in like 8 months ago and everybody in the crowd loved it and was totally into it. Everybody was screamin and yelling soo loud for dave. And Dave chants were goin on, and people were totally LOVIN it. Everybody i asked said the show KICKED FUCKIN' ASS. Although i know Dave LOVES Vancouver and he'll always step up to please the crowds here. Plus everyone else i ask who's seen almost every show with them in the original lineup said they did the best show's next to Queen at the time here in Vancouver. One weekend my Uncle and my Dad saw Van Halen one night and Queen later that weekend at the same venue.

"Wake up and smell the coffee boys. VH will return - but it will be with the Almighty Red Rocker himself as the frontman - and they will be rockin'!!!"

I really don't understand whats so mighty about the Red Rocker. Don't get me wrong i think he's pretty good myself and i have all the Van Hagar albums as well as the Gary Cherone venture which i crank out every once in awhile as well. But really what has the Red Rocker done with Van Halen that was so great for music history. I mean besides the top 40 hits that pretty much nobody remembers anymore except "Right Now" sorry i'm 19 and i mean nobody my age remembers anything except that song from the Hagar era. Which means that that era of Van Halen had no lasting impression on Rock'n'Roll history. I mean they didn't change anything but become a full on Pop/Rock act with too many keyboarding songs and none of the albums had really excellent reviews from critics either. VH1 and 1984 were the best rated albums of Van Halen by critics mainly because Van Halen in that era was doin something completly original that no one had EVER done before. And even the song Me Wise Magic (say what you may about the vocals) was a song and a sound that I have never heard before. The music of that song amazes me truly I get goosebumps when i hear that song because of how they totally reinvented themselves together with a new sound that hadn't been touched upon by any other band. If they continued from that point together they would've taken the rock world by storm as big as they were before Dave left. Cuz lets face it buddy the REAL truth is, when Dave was with Van Halen as said by VH1's behind the music on 1981 after talkin about Motley Crue's debut said 'but nobody rocked harder in 1981 than Van Halen' and they only got bigger from that point on, and 1981 was one of there worst years when it came to record sales for a new album of there's. Not only that they played in front of a crowd so huge that i don't even know the number i thought it was half a million or so, which is something Van Hagar would never be able to do. Not only that 1984 was the only album that came close to really knockin off a Micheal Jackson album, in his PRIME, when the album was in its HEIGHT of success. Too me for a band that was a Rock band in the height of pop music to be able to do that to the King of Pop is truly a legendary rock band. But then of course we all know what happened. Sammy joined and after the 5150 album, even tho they had #1 albums due to 1. Rock's height at the time and 2. Pop's still popularity. Would make a half rock half pop album with Top 40 pop hits EASILY a #1 album. But as you know they just never quite hit the sales that would've been with the original lineup except with 5150 and i believe one of the other albums. And sales still slowly declined until the Balance album where sales stayed around the 2 mil mark. Which is still really good but if they stayed with dave they would've been more legendary than any band. Just imagine if there was 13 VH/DLR albums. Think about it. Although in reality if they were still together the more likely number would be 18-25 albums. They would be absolutly HUGE right now. Way more so then an occasional album here and there from Van Hagar. As much as i will enjoy Van Hagar coming back (because mainly i hope for a full rock album, and still think EVH is the best guitarist ever and will buy any Van halen album) they will never EVER reach the success of a David Lee Roth reunion. Cuz the fact is that fans aside and out to the regular everyday person who doesn't go into message boards like us and know all about Van Halen and so on, they will ALWAYS remember Van Halen for Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love (lol kind of a funny contrast to Van Hagar isn't it?) Panama, Hot For Teacher, (sad to say but) Jump, You Really Got Me, (to the guitarists out there) Eruption, Runnin' With The Devil, ...And The Cradle Will Rock, Beautiful Girls, and Unchained. You never hear of or too much of at sporting events or anywhere else for that matter songs like Why Can't This Be Love? (even tho i admit when i'm in love i sure listen to it a lot) Love Walks In (same deal), Summer Nights (Great song but still who really remembers it) When Its Love (great riff at the start, great song when your in love and only memorable hit to the average joe off of that Album) Right Now, Pouncake, Don't Tell Me What Love Can Do, I can't remember that love song off there u know Love is always to share you turn an' swear its always been there. Those songs just won't make legends man. They just won't. They last until they fall off the charts and are as forgotten as the Yo-Yo man. They sell there couple mill with a few pop hits and the decent rock songs help it out to the rock fans a bit and then that albums over. I bet u if u went on the streets of your city and asked around how many DLR albums with VH could u name and with SH. I bet u they could name at least one with Dave, more times then they could with SH. Just try it. I guarantee you i'll be right. Just do it out of a 100 people like the people at Nielsen do. Or just phone 100 random numbers of people u don't know. I'll try and that and see the results. I seriously hope they try and do something Rock on the next album cuz then it will be awesome, I do like Sammy Hagar i mean it was really Eddie that brang in the love crap too much not Sammy. Even tho it still would never compare to the media coverage and everything of a DLR reunion. Cuz man those guys together changed the face of rock as we know it. And that it just the simple fact of it my friend.

                "Yeah baby!!!

P.S. - If you are not scared of the truth you will not delete this post. However, I have my doubts."

Listen to the boots from Chicago House of blues from July 03 Roth Sounded awesome! Some of his vocals were better in comparison to the US festival tape. No lie DLR has to consistently dial it in like that night to Prove To Those Faggy Hagar Fans That Sam Halen is decaffienated and Van Halen Was Kosher and Loaded with The stuff that rots yer teeth and Makes you late for work!!!!!!!!!!!!
"It's just not an option for me to go and watch some other band — who are only performing because they have some new record coming out — do our music," Roth said. "I have nothing against Velvet Revolver — I'm not familiar with their music — but that was my 3 minutes and 22 seconds up there."

I know of several VH tribute bands. Almost every one of them is a Dave era tribute. There is only one Hagar era tribute band I know of and they haven't been around for a while. The Dave era tributes are still around. Why ?? Because the Dave era music is what gets people excited. It's what they want to see and hear...[COLOR=orange]

Jesus, they were both good frontman, their just different. I like them better with roth but that doesn't mean they weren't good with Sammy, just different. :You have no idea where their music would have gone had roth stayed with the band. Get over it.. they will never be the same even if roth came back.
