You say you wish them the best then you make another statement about all the bitterness there. Then you repeat the same old they're talking about us most or half of the time bullshit. You're making a running commentary about another site having a running commentary about this site. Two wrongs don't make a right.

Says the fired moderator. You don't have to be a moderator to know what one is. Or what they're supposed to be anyway. They are not censors of content they don't agree with or rulers of the conversations they moderate. They are there to see that the conversations keep within certain limits of the rules of the forum not within the limits of a personal agenda.Beware of DogComment

I still got my teeth. I'm sure you don't. With a mouth like yours likely somebody's knocked them out long ago. It was probably the African mercenary you had deported from Australia with the help of the CIA.Beware of DogComment

OK, I appreciate the fact that a certain part of the populace wants to keep things all buttoned down and in order, yet for me, when I'm not taking care of a patron, doing some ultimately senseless filing, putting shit away that will only be taken out so I can put it away again in an abject form of futility while waiting for a smoke break, I'm in for as much chaos as possible to break the overwhelming spirit of monotony.

Why is it disloyal to post somewhere else? Many of us in this community predate the Army itself and posted at the Slawterhouse, the DLRML, the VHML and the Links among other places.Comment

I totally agree about the extent of personal bias, yet when it comes to curtailing thread derailment, being such an oddball myself, I really can't offer all that much. The truth is, I enjoy conversation (albeit typed), and love the way things can go off into tangents of all sorts, be it references to movies, trivia, ect. In real life, this is the way folks communicate, so why should it be any different in cyberspace?

We've had our differences but I've always respected your personal style. You simply ignore the people who piss you off unless they break the rules then you act accordingly. It's not personal with you. You give your opinion of the post but you don't attack the poster. You'd get my vote if the leadership of the site was voted on by the other members.
In and of itself, people tend to throw out insults or emoticons rather than actually saying anything new, at least it appears to me these days. Seriously, who wants to read more of the same old same old "Yer mamma" type baloney anymore?
Duh, I didn't just fall off the back of the potato truck, and I'm aware that most of these hostilities have a basis in events from the past. But why labor under that illusion to the point where one's objectivity goes flying out the window and crashes to the pavement? It just seems like an epic waste of time to me.

It seems we've been down this road before. And to invoke the Links as an example of "friendly, cross-forum posting" seems a little disingenuous. A large portion of Links-related posts I've seen here over the years have been by people slamming it, and slamming it hard.
Competition between forums is always part of the deal, and it usually crosses the line into downright nastiness.
People had issues with Roth Chats and numerous other forums over the years.
I'm not saying that you shouldn't post at other existing forums. Knock yourselves out and have fun.
But to go out and deliberately start a new one from scratch and have its members give the appearance that they're trying to poach members from here seems a little dastardly. It seems like a long-term solution to a short term issue, and I'd rather tough out the bad times at a long standing place I feel comfortable with then have some short-lived high times at the new place in town.
To me, this is "Cheers" vs. "Gary's Old Town Tavern." I think everybody knows which is which as it relates to the respective sites.Originally posted by perilouspete

I was being sarcastic. I don't know how many times I've seen members here (talking about members here, not site policy) talk down to newer members over who's been here longer or who's posted more. I really wondered why they accepted new members if they felt they were so insignificant as posters. They even have a who's who of trolls that they trot out once in a while. Moderators should moderate according to the rules and not their personal opinions of the relevance of the poster.Originally posted by perilouspete
