Who did you drive away? GAR was already gone. I'm not saying it was you but there was enough dissent at gangs of mods not being able to take a step back and take the higher ground that a whole swathe of people had upped sticks while at the same time the war raged here they could claim that the new site was a place of peace and fun.

The amount of hypocrisy and bullshit some people have said on this whole thing is staggering.

I've been here since close to the start. I sat down for 3 days and worked out what I thought was the best thing to do which was to go back to early 2000s DLR Army. I admit that was more difficult because of social media so I put in some safeguards about images. There were mods embroiled in a war that had to go so best to get rid of all of them so that fingers weren't pointed and go for tech people who wouldn't get involved.

Also in this new fantasy narrative you guys have concocted we seem to be ignoring the FACT that I did ban Flappo and I did get a bunch of personal images of me posted at the other site which were subsequently taken down.

So really I don't know if you are being deliberately fucking stupid or you just missed some of the nuances of this crap or if you all sit around chatting online and I came out as the scapegoat for all of this I don't give a shit but I won't let you post crap about me here without calling it out.

I bet I spent a lot more time thinking about it than any of you did, I knew I was putting my neck on the line here.

There has been some misinterpretation of what happened and some post event spin.

The place was fucked when I came in. Absolutely.

I did end up banning people and I did delete personal information where it was found.

I could have banned some people a bit earlier or not unbanned them in the first place but that was because I am an optimist.

When Sarge passed the site over to me I got a lot of great encouragement from both sides that I was someone they could both deal with.

The fact it turned out they REALLY REALLY couldn't get over it is not my fault.

I did all I could and I tried hard behind the scenes too. It's difficult sometimes in an online environment where you assume if the guy can type a personal message he is vaguely on planet earth, I guess I don't have as much experience of coke as WARF.

Maybe I should in hindsight have banned a little earlier but I think given the cards I had I played them as well as I could have.

Also yes just now things are quiet but my plan did work. The other site has gone, people are returning and there is peace in the land.

The solution suggested by Romeo and others seems to be to have banned the people you didn't like for being rude and nasty, to continue the ongoing war here, to try and find someone apart from me or VA to put up with the crap while paying to do so and to also start some new editing policy where teams of people would sit looking for racial slurs, rudeness and nastiness and immediately delete them and ban the people using them unless you liked them.

As I said last night I'm genuinely shocked at the bullshit that has obviously been going on about me at lesser list based music sites.

The DDLR model was EXACTLY what we put in here because it had worked so well there. That website was great.

EXACTLY the same fucking model here except allowing people to have pics taken down because of social media.

Please post the evidence of somebody posting about you, it is a forum, it must be there someplace. Don't flatter yourself, we have better things to discuss unlike you. How many times in the past few days have you taken a pot shot at people not even talking to you? You call it lesser sites I call it a site with some common sense and decency. You make the comments, get people to give examples, then act offended and butt hurt about it. If you want it to end shut up about it, people were getting along fine before you took yet another shot at the people that took a break from the site.

I would argue it was quite easy to avoid getting involved in the 'war' that went on here for months and many of our regular posters did just that. The majority of the people that seem to feel most hard done by got involved in arguments with trolls on a site which since it's inception said it wouldn't censor and then got upset when they inevitably got abuse from them.

I haven't checked the timescales but this seems to be about the final few weeks of a flame war that went on for many months.

Under my tenure it ended.

I could argue it may have still been going on if I hadn't played it the way I had. No one died. Some people who had put pictures of themselves on the internet were called fat by other fat people.
